No, and they will not add it. Paul Sage already talked about it in his live Q&A and they will NOT be adding in collision detection in this game.

They didn't want to put it into the game because it doesn't work with their PvP. As you can see even talks about that there are ways to prevent griefing, but they are doing it because it doesn't work for their PvP, and they have more knowledge on how it affects their PvP than anyone on these forusm.

even for pvp? I don't mean allies, I mean enemies. It has to be in, otherwise there is no opportunity for tactics!! shield walls anyone?

My personal opinion of this is they did not put CD in because they want these massive battles of 200 players on screen at the same time and that would not be possible with CD in the game. I personally think that it will be only extremely rare occasions when you see that many players on your screen at the same time and more often it will be around 50 to 100 players max, and usually closer to 50 then 100. and CD could be made to work with numbers like that I think.

Anyway they have said countless times there is no CD in ESO so that's that....

You said griefing though. you wouldn't collide with allies, hence no griefing. ...am I missing something obvious here? How does being able to block AN ENEMY THAT YOU CAN JUST STAB AND WALK OVER HIS BODY grief someone??

edit: ok, so no collision detection for allies OR enemies? i just want to make sure. so tanks blocking doors while archers and mages behind them, none of that is possible? taking a castle (if there are such things) will just include running a zerg into the castle?

I didn't say griefing, Paul specifically said that.

And then he goes on that it doesn't work with their PvP. It's probably a huge stress on the servers when you have 200 people on the screen and it's trying to read everyone colliding with each other. That's probably why they don't have CD in this game.

I personally don't care either way if it was in the game or not. I don't see it as a thing that would make the game better, or make it worse. But I'm not going to go on talking why it should or shouldn't be in this game. Their Devs have come out specifically and said that they, "can do anything, but can't do everything." Sure they probably could have put CD in their game, but it would take away from allowing large group fights in Cyrodiil and to them they would rather have over 200 people fighting on the screen with perfect frame rate over CD.

So, again, I don't care whether if it was in the game or not. But, I'm not going to get into another talk about how CD would make this game better. Because it's be beaten to death.

Ok, im obviously missing something else he said, because the question you quoted is asking about allies and members of the same faction. Paul responds with of course not, why would people want that (and it's true, griefing would be ridiculous!) but doesn't seem to specifically mention members of opposing factions. Is there another source? I'd like to see where he says you cannot collide with members of opposing factions in which you are engaged in pvp AGAINST.

It would be weird simply walking through people in first-person.

It was in one of the "ask us anything" weekly things Zenimax does.. a specific question about CD in PvP...CD won't be in ESO.

thanks, i'm going to look for it. Don't mean to beat an apparently dead horse, just very curious. The one thing I loved about Warhammer online was the pvp and that had enemy CD. It was awesome, but if it's not in I guess pvp will just be a little different. I'll have to wait and see.

They had an AUA and they said that there won't be CD in ESO, and Paul is just reaffirming it in that QA.

It would certainly add another layer of strategy to PVP battles (tanks forming lines to defend keep entry points, or healers, or a row of archers), but ZOS seems to have no plans to implement it. Most likely due to potential griefing, as well as technical restrictions. They seem really set on getting 200 people on screen at once, adding in CD would definitely cause a spike in latency issues.

Collision is King. It creates weighted and realistic combat. Check out Dark Souls when you feel your sword slice into mobs or bounce off walls. Even Skyrim has Collision. You cant walk through any mobs. When there is no collision your left with a floaty and stiff cardboard style animation that look like your waving a weightless fly squatter though phantoms. Its old school. Having said that Collision with latency is not good lol. Although Im sick of hearing all the chumps talking about well greifers will block you to npcs and things like this. Tera online has full collision and even open world martial law meaning anyone can attack anyone and its never a problem you cant escape. They just have collision off in major cities around safe areas and you also have the option to switch to a different channel if their is a problem. So I personaly want Collision, but I think Latency can be a problem for PVP so i would say Collision OFF for players but for Enemy Monsters COLLISION ON its just way cool and yeh, Skyrim has collision

Seriously don't use colors like that. People can't read what you write.
