Is there a mod to remove map markers completely?

Is there a way to turn off map markers in the ini? If not, are there any mods out to do so? Thanks :)

One problem in Skyrim is that the quest journal contains just one short line of text for mish quests often without location making the quest impossible to solve if you don't remember the location.

What I'd like is a mod to remove the markers for "nearby undiscovered places" on the top compass bar - or at least significantly reduce the distance at which they appear. Kinda kills the feeling of stumbling upon hidden places for me when you can "sense" it from a mile away, especially for those dragon altar things.

In your SkyrimPrefs.ini file, you should find the following settings under [GamePlay]:

bShowFloatingQuestMarkers=1
bShowQuestMarkers=1

I *think* you want to set the second one to 0 (zero) for map markers, but I'm not 100% what the floating markers are referring to. (@Rianne below: Was wondering that, but I've spent far more time on the boards than playing and thought I remembered seeing that but couldn't recall - so that may be it).

EDIT: Or get that mod that Om linked. I was too slow.

Floating markers may be the ones that appear when you're playing the game itself? Like when you get close enough to a door when you're on your way to a quest person or object, and then the markers that appear on objects and people if they're quest related when you approach them.

I'm sorry, this is what I actually meant! I know how to get rid of quest markers, but I'd like to stumble upon locations without having the undiscovered icon. I think it would make exploration even more fun.

Can't wait to try this ... already using the "old" no enemies, and this patched / enhanced mod should give me everything I want in my compass, which is cardinal points ONLY!

Thx to my modding hero of the day!

...and the compass is now as clear as I want!

Just highlight the quest and hit "M". It takes you right to the location on the map.
