We do get to block out the sun just temporarily...which IMO svcks. I wanted to actually side with Harkon and permanently block out the sun. That's why I joined his court :ermm:. But that was my disappointment with the DLC. Still enjoyed it but some things about was just disappointing.

you could do it multiple ways though, and all of your actions led to a different ending. so nope.

but the way you complete it affects the cut scene afterwards so they are the same thing.

Trust me, you dont WANT to block out the sun and play the whole game in the dark. It will start to get annoying, your judgement of what time it is would be thrown off

Just wait till it comes out on PC. I'm sure within a few weeks there will be a mod that allows you to perm. block it out. No worries, modders will save the day!

And yeah! I would love to block the sun permanently!

Or, there could be a trigger like - we could blot out the sun for how much time we wanted with a bloodcursed arrow (if we wanted it could be permanently) and be able to turn it to normal with a sunhallowed arrow

This should be in the spoiler section.

Ontopic:Why would you want to block it out permanently? If you do that would spell the end for the vampire race.

Actually many of NV's DLC were pretty linear compared to Fallout 3's, and especially Dawnguard. I was more disappointed with the quality of the quests and the Vampire faction rather than the quantity that was added (which was enough to satisfy a $20 price tag, but the quality of it all ruined much of the experience).

What's not linear about Dawnguard? You choose a side but the outcome is the same whichever you choose.

Apparently you WOULD have been able to blot out the sun permanently, but the game would lag far too much.
