There Should Be Optional World PVP On A PVP Shard!

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 2:04 pm

Most MMORPG's have open world pvp throughout the entire world. The only World PVP in TESO consists of being automatically balanced in Cyrodiil fighting throughout that entire region. I enjoy playing pvp in a variety of environments and Cyodiil is nothing but grasslands/forests with a small snowey region around Bruma.

The official news is you won't even be able to see the enemy faction when you enter enemy provinces, this is stupid and makes no sense at all. I don't know exactly how the shard system works but I would expect to see the enemy. To stop people from getting ganked and ruining their pve experience, Open World pvp should only be available to players who are at the maximum level. A flagging system for PVP being on and off should also be available for low level player but it should not be available for max level players.

i have said all along there should be a world pvp server though i think such server should not have an on/off switch. if you pick that server you get pvp all the time

This. Ideally, for me, they'd throw some FFA full-loot in there, too. Obviously with appropriate drawbacks to killing members of your alliance.

the reason there isn't pvp in the pve areas is because cyrodiil exists. if you could pvp anywhere why would you go to cyrodiil?

I'd throw my money at the screen for this, but I know it'll never happen.

as much as I love wpvp and would love to engage it in ESO, I agree it would be bad for the game because of the design decision with Cyrodiil.

I'm actually fairly confident it'd be possible to have multiple megaservers with different rulesets later on down the road if the game does well, ZOS seems open to giving us what we want within reason.

If they can figure out how to make a 50+(+) PvE zone overlap a faction starter zone, you would think they could figure out how to make a world pvp overlay zone. Perhaps one that is simply for those level 50 so that all you see are other players at level 50 but this layer also allows you to flag for pvp. The problem would be trying to figure out how to get this pvp layer to be able to interact with the pve only layer. It may be that you would never see players that do not have the pvp flag, much as you would never see the lowbie characters in the faction zones for the 50+(+) content.

It sounds complicated even to me. I hope that made sense as I attempted to describe it.

People would still go to Cyrodiil for: Organized endgame PvP events, sieges/PvP with some possibilities to it/to actually fight other alliances (open world PvP wouldn't mean removing faction restrictions, which would mean an outlaw system of players fighting the faction they are in), PvP rewards. Open world PvP would only be a meaningful pass-time, typically only while leveling and likely wouldn't pry people away from Cyrodiil if Cyrodiil itself is fun enough. The only thing I can think of that would pull players away from Cyrodiil is questing - if there is "open world PvP" in Cyrodiil, yet quests that all ranges of levels can participate in, ye there is open world everywhere, else, it would no longer make sense for those that love open world PvP to go and level there.

I personally think open world PvP could be done without hindering players who don't want open world PvP, and without taking away any of the action in Cyrodiil.

i believe it would be used as a form of grief more than anything. they would indeed have to form a system around trying to stop constant pks but really they already have and that was turning pvp off. if people can in any way try to ruin the game for someone else they will. its amazing how many people have fun ruining others play experience in video games. you can make a game with as many amazing things to do as you want but if you create just 1 way to grief in the game its what people will abuse to hell.
