There's someone who can't still pass the intro video?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 4:03 pm

Hi everybody.

First, my specs

Ati radeon HD 5830
Asus P6T SE
6 Gb Ram
Intel I7 930 2,80 Ghz
Windows 7 Ultimate

Im writing again about this issue: i just can't pass the intro video, pratically 1-2 fps per second, and i just have to Ctrl-Alt-Canc to end the application. No chances

I need to know if somebody still have theese problems, cause i red all of the topics about this issue in this forum, and as i saw someone solved it with specs similar to mine, using atioglxx.dll, using AMD preview 3, using rageconfig, ecc.

BUT FOR ME, THESE TIPS WHERE USELESS. I can't get past intro video. I don0t looking for a solution, cause probably there ism't. Just wanna know if someone is experiencing the same as me.

Thanks

I also have the 5830 card. This is a driver issue, what .dll are you using? You may need to try different older drivers to get your game working. The most common on used as a fix is the 11.6 driver. This one didn't really work for me. Right now I am using the 11.8 and it works as it should. But I would recomend trying others if you don't get any results.

Hey there,

I'm sorry if you have done it before, but if you didn't please try this... it worked for me:

Go to AMD Catalyst Control Center > Gaming > 3D Application Settings, and UNCHECK the OpenGL Settings > Triple Buffering.

I've tested this with two different AMD graphics cards: HD 4870 (512 MB), and HD 6970 (2 GB)... I also tried this with Catalyst 11.10 preview 2, preview 3, and the 11.10 final release.

I hope this can fix your problem... if it helped, kindly let me know.

BTW, my system's specs:

cpu: Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @2.83 GHz
graphics: Gigabyte HD 4870 (512 MB) / XFX HD 6970 (2 GB)
ram: 8 GB DDR2
Motherboard: Gigabyte x48-DQ6
Windows 7 Pro x64

I've also found that having a lot of applications run in the background while starting a new game makes me run into the post-intro-game-can't-be-played bug --- all I see are bands of green and blue. Quitting the game, closing all the applications, and restarting Rage fixes it. Good luck!

I was playing ok, with the ATI 11.9 drivers, but was getting the tearing and vsync issues... So updated to 11.10, got the blue texture problem... put the 2 files found here in the rage directory and BINGO *was* running great! Emphasis on WAS... Went to go and play today and it doesn't even bring up the into movies... goes not responding instantly... Tried going back to various versions of drivers, but can't get this game to launch at all now...

Very frustrating... :(

The program rage.exe version 1.0.27.8258 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Yup, I had it working for a day or two but once I got to Wellspring I couldnt leave. started a new game and ctd after intro. Now I can't seem to fix it no matter what i try. A funny side note: Wasteland Legends works fine. I think it has something to do with the large open wasteland area crashing my game.

I just tried reinstalling, but still no luck... moved my save file out of the directory as well. Where does the cfg file that contains the video settings live? Maybe I need to clear that...

Edit: Just discovered it was the xfire client causing the crash... now I can get to the menu and load my save again!
