Hi all,

Is there a way to repair my gun in Goodsprings ? I have found 2 benches and 1 camp fire, but I did not find a "repair bench".

There is a weapon repair kit in victors shack there is no repair benches in game at all.You have to repair with a weapon of the same type or find a NPC to repair your weapons and armour for you.

Go south to Mojave Outpost.
It's not very far away and you can repair weapons to 100% there by talking to the lovely Major Knight.

There are work benches which allow you to create weapon repair kits.

Which is made obsolete with the Dead Money DLC. :D

If the weapon you want to repair is the Varmint rifle given to you by Sunny Smiles, you can steal another Varmint rifle from the safe in the saloon (in the room with the computer terminal) and use it to repair yours- or the other way round, depending on which one is in better condition.

Thanks a lot people, I now understand how I can repair my Varmint ! However, I am starting to think I really need to get the sniper riffle (Varmint having some difficulty killing stuff).

It's your Skill level and Perks ... not the Varmint rifle.

I have Gun Skill of 100, Sneak Skill of 100, Luck 10, and various Critical Hit Perks and I can take down a deathclaw with my modded Varmint rifle in VATS or not in VATS. Granted with the GOBI Sniper rifle I can do a one-shot kill on a deathclaw ... but ... I enjoy perching myself correctly and taking down a deathclaw in a dozen or so long ranged sniper shots with my silenced, scoped, Varmint rifle while he can't figure out where those shots are coming from .

Scoped and silenced Varmint rifle (I find extended mags mod welcome but not mandatory) can serve you well till mid-game. Sneak criticals with a Varmint rifle will usually kill most things that have little or no DT. I've not hunted Deathclaws with it, but I've routinely taken Giant Radscorpions, Fire Geckos, Giant Ants, Feral Ghouls and Fiends (although Fiends often require two shots).
