Is there a way to revert back to 1.01 or 1.00

Post » Sat Jan 15, 2011 4:44 am

I've got a lot of hours invested in this game and have tolerated the freezes and crashes up to this point. BUT, since update 1.02 any time the game autosaves such as sleeping, fast traveling, or entering a different map area the game freezes. It did not do this before 1.02 update so I will assume there is a connection.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Doc

Wow, every time I come back to these boards there is always someone new with a different issue or someone saying how they have almost no issues. The margin of error in this game is insane. Anyway you could back to 1.00 by simply deleting the game data then the next time you are going to play NV disable your internet connection so it won't prompt you to download the patch.

Thanks for the tip. I should note that turning off all the autosaves in options makes the game playable but it still crashes with Manual saves, so no good there either unless I could mange to never get killed again. LOL.

I don't play with auto saves thought that would help, but it doesn't seem to matter whatever you try this game is still going to constantly crash for no reason. I haven't crashed since 1.02 but that's because I played for about a hour. Then I went and resumed play later and it started hiccuping in areas I've all ready been to before. So I gave up and haven't played since.

autosaving is always prone to crashes turn off all autosaving and turn ambeint music all the way down.. This should make the game alot more stable. You should only ever manualy save with this game.

I deleted the game data as you suggested. Waiting for it to reinstall from the disk. I will let you know if reverting back to 1.00 does the trick for me.

Thanks again,

Hope It works for you, but for me 1.00 was just as buggy as 1.01 or 1.02

Reverted back to 1.0.0.228 just fine. However, loading a saved game prompts the message: "This save relies on data that is no longer present.... " or something like that. I will let you know if it matters. The game loaded fine. Let me see if it plays fine tool

This will not help your issues at all. Your game data has been corrupted. It sometimes happens at random or sometimes when a particularly widespread patch uncovers a previous instability in the save. Your only hope is to reinstall and delete all of your game saves. Sorry about that.

Oh yeah after your delete everything make sure you do patch up. But I still dont think that your game saves will be recoverable.

Nope. You are incorrect. It works fine for me now. Playing as good as before. Loads old saves too. No problems.

I should clarify: I did not let it download the 1.02.310 update. I am playing on 1.00.228 - seems to be happy now.

So far so good! No freezing, no crashing, no glitches!! Could it be as simple as replacing the game data file? I'm happy!

How long have you played with no crashes or glitches? I remember before any patches I was able to get to the strip crash free but then I got the black screen trying to re-enter the strip and my game fell apart from there.

I've put in a good 86 hours in game since going back to 1.0.0.228 - probably about 16 hours of real time. So far one freeze in NoVac when talking to a sniper in the Dino. Seems to be working as good as ever.

LOL

When I re-install patch 1.20, will patch 1.01 also re-install?

I believe so. 1.01 should be included in 1.02.
