Is there a way to stop Steam popups from causing a CTD?

Post » Wed Jan 19, 2011 6:01 am

The ONLY issue I'm having with game performance whatsoever is that whenever Steam tries to advertise a new game or special offer while I am playing FONV, I get an immediate CTD. It only happens once every couple of days, but it's annoying the you know what out of me.

Can someone tell me how to stop it happening? I'd appreciate any tips! Thank you.

Disable steam community in game? Right-click on the game in steam, select properties, then un-tick that option in general options.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, that sounds like it ought to stop it! :)

If that doesn't work, though it should, there is always offline mode to.

In a Steam window, click the upper left Steam>Go offline

Thanks folks! I know it's a bit of a silly question to have to ask and that there would be a simple enough answer, it's just that in the time I've been using Steam I've never had a problem with it just staying online whatever I'm doing so didn't know where to find the options
