Therianthropy(gstaff come and see)

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:14 am

"Therianthropy refers to the metamorphosis of humans into other animals.Therianthropes are said to change forms via shapeshifting."

therion -greek for beast/wild animal

lykos - greek for wolf

ERGO:
The name of the skill/perk tree should be changed when there would exist any other were-transformation choice e.g w-bear, w-boar other than default w-wolf.

W-boars also would be logical with added boars in-game. (c'mon Vikings and Nords love to hunt and eat them:D)

I can picture myself turning into a Wereshark in the market area in Whiterun.

Wereboars are still a lot more logical since they where in Daggerfall.

In TES lore, werewolves, wereboars, werebears and so on are all Lycanthropes. It wouldn't make sense to change the name since it already has the correct name. However, I do agree that other lychanthropes (and common boars) should be added.

I tink in TES lore, all forms of therianthropy(from the might Werewolf to the lesser known Werevulture and the rarely/never seen Wereshark) are all called "Lychanthropes".

That would remind me of that old tv show with the big sharks and dinosaurs that fought eachother :P

The only problem wth were-sharks are they are water-creatures, and i know with my luck i'll have the wrong power/shout equipped and end up "suffocating" in the middle of a dungeon because i can't breathe.

In TES lore, werewolves, wereboars, werebears and so on are all Lycanthropes.
To clarify, people on Tamriel know "lycanthrope" is a misnomer when applied to other werebeasts, but since werewolves are the most prevalent of them, the word lycanthrope has been associated with them all.

Weresharks are probably just a crazy Liar-cat-of-3-lifes-the-forums-god anti-truth....basically a lye....but who knows.

W-wolves, w-bears, w-boars are, as I am concerned, the only lore-friendly Manbeasts roaming in the Skyrim wilderness. Unless it's the infamous Land W-shark mauling the Whiterun's folk....

btw. oh my underworld Lycan-lovers. At least in the real life some form of meta-justice exists: we all know of berserkers and almost nobody know nor can speak "ulfheenar" properly.

btw2. eh...therianthropy thread appeared just of my sheer helpful nature because seeing that misuse of name is a bit cruel to my sense of harmony.

"Lycan" in greek means wolf, but since the greeks never existed on nirn I assume "Lycan" has another meaning.
"Lycan" isn't a word, it's a name made up by Underworld. "Lykos" is greek for wolf.

A were vulture and were shark. I would love eating all those Argonians. And swooping down to grab a little Bosmer or Breton.
