These Are Not The Beta Forums

Post » Sat Sep 07, 2013 11:25 am

With the most recent wave of beta invites, a few stragglers have found their way to the temporary Official ESO forums thinking that these are the beta forums. Rest assured that there are beta forums, but they are located elsewhere.

If you received an invitation and you have questions about the beta or you can't find the beta forums. you can email ZOS directly: http://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/ask

you're wasting your time. People do not read before they post.

They apparently don't read their invitation e-mails either.

It would help if they forced beta users to sign up on the beta forums before being able to access the game. Then there'd be no avoiding it. Seen other betas do that before and it works nicely.

Some of the questions about this beta I am seeing on the Facebook page are both mind boggling and frustrating.

Then they would just ask on these forums how to get into the beta forums/how to sign up. There's no way to avoid them posting things about the beta unless they get rid of this forum subsection altogether.

I would be tearing my hair out if I were a mod right now. They probably get warning from ZOS informing of them of when they sent invites, and maybe times when they could expect people to mistake the two different forums.

I think this should have been a mod appreciation thread as they would actually read the thread compared to those that can't read their emails. Thank you forum moderators for your hard work and dedication!

Judging by the posts on the ESO facebook page you are not the only one who did not read the e-mail.

Can't say it really said anything special other then here is a beta key your a stress tester ..... and then later they had all the legal jumbo which should be common knowledge to not go around talking about the game because well its still in beta and were not supposed to do that lol

You might not have checked enough. The NDA also says that you're not supposed to even tell people that you're in beta. That is what they were referring to above.

It's fine to state that you got in. It is in the sticky post at the top of the forum about the first wave of invites.

At the very least you were someone cautious enough to not post immediately demanding a response like many of the others, thank you for taking the time to read other threads before posting.

Maybe since we have proof this thread is helping, we could either sticky this, or mods could create one to their liking.

It's not enforced, but it's in the NDA. I was just clarifying.

The post contradicts the NDA, and in fact is self-contradictory :P

The "official word" is that you can tell people you're in the beta, and that's it. BUT they prefer you don't, for the simple reason that it opens you up to being pressured or tempted to give out more info. If you think you're solid enough to not say anything, feel free to tell the world you're in the beta. If you can't resist, though, its probably best to shut up about it altogether.

That is the official word on the matter.

It's unfortunate companies don't do a better job in their beta selection process. Quite frankly...they reap what they sow.

You mean to tell me there was another wave? And I sitll wasn't invited? What gives? They really need to get their priorities straight, I'm pretty important.

Hypothetically, if I were in this situation... I hypothetically wouldn't blame the testers, because hypothetically it could possibly be inferred that the information was not delivered in a pertinent and easy-to-read manner. Hypothetically, one might infer it could have been in the LAST paragraph of the email or something. If that were, hypothetically, the case... I'd expect a lot of confused people on here not knowing where to post.

Hypothetically, of course.
