thiefassassin weapons?

Post » Mon Oct 15, 2012 2:50 am

So i want to restart skyrim as a full blown stealth based character. Just stealth, lockpicking, maybe some pickpicketing for fun.
Although im excited and ready to play a thief/assassin, i have a decision i need to make
What weapons will i choose? I don't really want to bother with bows, because i i want to stay melee oriented, but i can't decide what melee weapon to dump my points into? Should i go one handed maces, axes, or swords? Or daggers?
Help please :)!

Dualwield a dagger and a one-handed weapon of your choice. I'd prefer a sword or axe, just because a mace just doesn't feel right when DWing.

You could also try playing around with Illusion.

Okay. Is there a difference with one handed and daggers? Or are they all the same?

If your asking if daggers are similar to other onehanded weapons, yes. Daggers benefit from Onehanded perks, but not Fortify Onehanded enchantments. You can take perks in the Sneak tree to get bonuses for sneak attacks with daggers that the other weapons don't get.

Use a dagger in the left-hand and whatever in the right hand, because weapon in the off-hand determines swing-speed, and dagger is the fastest one. It aslo gives a Backstab-bonus rather than just a Sneak attack.

For my main assassin build I went light armor, archery for picking off my targets from a distance if need be, one-handed sword, alchemy for poisons. For those moments where I have no choice but defend myself in out right combat I'll dual wield an axe in the left hand and my sword in the right, sometimes I'll decided to use that combination just because I deem the area to close quarters for proper use of my bow, keeping a dagger is as well a smart move for when you have the chance to slit a throat or two. I never use a mace dual wield combination just because it just feels to cumbersome as well as the fact that I just don't like maces.

There's dragon scale armor but no light armor in the daedric department, both weapon sets look very nice for an assassin as well. You need to max out smithing in order to smith either daedric or dragon but it's worth it IMO.

First of all, you need to be a Dunmer
Then you need to get a good dagger or two, and a bow with some nice arrows,
But hey thats my opinion!!

Oh goody so i'm thinking one handed, sneak, light armor, smithing, and maybe alchemy. What about fighting dragons? I feel like im going to have a tough time, you know, seeing as you cant really sneak up on a dragon :/

Just don't do the Main Quest. An assassin Dragonborn, really?

As long as you
Spoiler
don't kill the dragon at the watchtower
dragons don't appear.

Well thats the thing, i love the dragons, i like fighting them and seeing them fight other NPC's, etc. But will it be difficult to kill them? Plus i need their dragon bones/scales for armor right?

You most certainly can sneak up on a dragon  I can't count how many times I've gotten the drop on the scaley buggers, it just takes a high sneak level and the combination of fortify sneak enchantment with the muffle enchantment. Then there's using your terrain to your advantage, use trees/rocks/cliff faces for cover, you can take the high ground when you can and drop in on them there's several dragon roosts where you can position yourself above the dragon. The trick with dealing with dragons or any hostile is to never come out of sneak, even if you have been spotted you still get a critical hit chance for being in sneak.

One dagger
Bow
Poison Arrows
For a true assassin use robes, leather armour, or Dark Brotherhood clothing.
Obtain the Black Star, enchant your blade and bow with soul trap enchantment. Be sure to trap your targets in the black star and then enchant whatever weapon they have equipped on their body when you loot. Be sure to not have any of the same weapons as the one you are going to loot off the body so you can ensure you have the correct weapon when you enchant it. Select Soul Trap enchantment, the black star, the victim's weapon and then rename it "(Insert victim's name)'s (insert weapon type)"

Example: Shoot Sven and his body becomes trapped in the black star. Loot his body for the weapon (lets say he has an iron dagger). Then go to an enchantment table, choose the iron dagger, choose soul trap, and then choose the black star. Then rename it (if you are on the xbox it will be Y, I believe for PS3 it is Triangle) as "Sven's Dagger" and create it.

You can then place them in a chest so you have an account of all of your kills.

I don't go that far, I really don't have the need to remember my kills but I do leave a calling card, I never remove my arrow from my target I'll leave a single ebony arrow. I do how ever take any jewelery they have on them, I'm a little bit of a horder for the sparklies

Illusion goes great with stealth oriented characters. I used a dagger in one hand and an illusion spell in the other. The skills I used were Light Armor, One Handed, Illusion, Sneak, and Restoration.

I've always found calling cards to be rather boring in Skyrim. After a week the body disappears and it's not like your style of killing ever becomes reknown. Now if you would hear rumors about an assassin who always leaves a note or item behind from people in the cities and such it would be really cool.

That, sir, is the most bad ass thing I have ever read on here.
