Thieves Caches?

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 2:01 am

Just curious if anyone else is having this problem.

I've completely finished all the Thieves Guild quests. Including all Radiant quests, and City Influence quests. I am now the Guild Master. As a perk for finishing all Thieves Guild quests, you are suppose to get 3 Thieves Caches (Barrels with Thieves Guild Shadowmark on them) in each city that the "City Influence" quests have been done in. These caches hold some pretty good loot most of the time too. Deadric weapons, high level poisons and potions, armor, etc.

Problem is that I only have these caches in Riften and Markarth. The ones that are suppose to be in Whiterun, Solitude, and Windhelm are not there. They never appeared. And this really bites. I am losing out on some good loot. And these barrels replenish after so nuch time too so you can keep going back.

Is this a glitch that anyone else is having?

Not sure if it's related or not but.......The two towns where I do have the caches are also the only two towns where my houses work properly. All my weapons racks and bookshelves work in Riten and Markarth (the two towns my caches appear). I haven't bought the house in Windhelm yet but my house in Whiterun and Solitude are messed up. None of the racks work in these houses. No caches in these towns. Probably just a coincidense.

There are 3 special barrels labeled "Thieves Cache" located in different locations around each of the 5 main holds once all Thieves Guild quests are completed. For example: If you own the house in Markarth, one of the 3 barrels in that town is located right outside your front door and has a "Shadowmark" on it. It will also display as "Thieves Cache" when you scroll your curser over it. They have good stuff in them usually.

I know what you're talking about , and no , none of them have ever shown up in my game that I'm aware of .
I will have to make the rounds later when I play Skyrim to see if any of them are actually there and I just missed them .

Yea. Same problem here. I've only been able to find the ones in Markarth and Riften. I've completed all the Thieve's Guild quest, I've looked everywhere in the other towns in case they spawn in random areas. Nope. Since 1.2, my treasure map chests all stopped spawning too. Might be related, might not be.

Yeah, they're not at random locations. According to the game guide they are suppose to be in specific locations. They are where they're suppose to be in Markarth and Riften only. Might not be game breaking but still.....Just another thing that doesn't work to add to the LONG list bummers.

At least you have the Solitude ones. They are the most convenient ones to locate. The one in Riten on the Guardhouse balcony is a pain.
It would be great if they all worked. They usually carry some pretty good loot that can actually be used when you're at a high level.

yea the riften ones were a bit of a hmmmmmm ok especially that one on the balcony took a little while to find that
and i didnt like solitudes much as i dont know solitude well with windhelm being where my house is in the game i would have preffered having those over solitudes and i know windhelm very well

From what i understand, no. I have not gotten far enough in the TG RA Qests to know for myself, but dropping or selling your thieves guild armor is one of the major game breaking complaints on this game.

No second set of TG armor , you get the guild master set at the end , but from my understanding , to get there you need at least 1 piece of the regular set to trade in along the way .
I would check where you sold it , on the off chance the vendor still has it , sometimes the vendors in my game hang on to stuff like that indefinitely .

i didn't drop or sell it it disappeared from my house i have three explanations for it either a) like i think i did i put it on a mannequin and its eaten it
b ) its actually disappeared from the game like some of the stones of barenziah do
or c)the most unlikely is its all been nicked by some thief
and im deffinate i did not drop or sell it i have three saves all apart of the thieves guild and have seen you need that armour to compleate the thieves guild i cant get my master armour like im meant to cause tonalia is in the never ending loop of trade in a piece of your armour also as a rule of thumb in this game i never sell unique stuff that im given or find so none of the deadric items none of the armours from the different guilds or civil war lines none of the named weapons or weapons im given for being thane im am 100% definite i did not sell it or drop it (i dont drop items so not to get save file bloat with me playing un patched) so now the first time out of the three saves iv compleated the thieves guild fully and become master i cant compleate the final quest and ping the tropy because my armour went missing....

You don't need the thieves guild armor for anything other than doing the one trade with Tonilia to upgrade one of the pieces. After that it is totally not needed. I finished the Thieves Guild in it's entirety and never really use the original armor. You get the Guild Leader armor at the end but you don't need the old one to get it.

Like I said, If you've already did the upgrade with Tonilia then you don't need the original armor for anything.

well atm tonallia is stuck in a permanent loop about trading in a piece of my thieves guild armour and when i say i dont have it she just says well you better come back when you have at least one of the pieces try talk to her again same thing happens meaning i cant buy or sell to her (thats a fence with 4000 gone) and i cant get my master thieves guild armour because of this permanent loop meaning under new management quest will not complete leaving the quest stuck in my quest log because it cannot be completed therefore i cannot ping the trophy connected to this. all because i do not have my thieves guild armour due to it dissapearing from my game.....you see i haven't been able to do the upgrade because of it vanishing thats why i need it

Ah, I see.
Yeah, that's really the only thing it's really needed for too.
You mentioned that you may have put it on a manequin? Did you try searching the manequin again? You do know that the armor dissapears when putting it on the manequin right? But it is still there even though you can't see it. Worth checking again I think. If not then you really don't have any other options.

i know the mannequins turn invisible but i have clicked on and searched all 3 of them over and over again to no success i have searched everywhere i have put it in the game over and over again it has disappeared of the face of tamriel without it i cannot finnish thieves guild fully or get the master armour which i wanted

on a side note though the mannequin i think i put it on as its the only blank one in the house one has linways armour the other DB armour on it is the same mannequin that has a duplication glitch on my partners xbox save (again as a thief) and its the same mannequin that in my day one save after update 1.3 still turned invisible when the others didnt i wonder if that particular mannequin has issues i dunno could just be a coinkidink but yea

Their are 3 in each nof the main 5 cities (that is if they actaully appear). But you have to have completed the "City Influences" quests to get them.

They are just barrels with a "shadowmark" symbol on them. And they will show as "Thieves Cache" instead of Barrel.

The quickest one to find is probably in Solitude. Between the Winking Skeever (the bar) and the potion shop. It should be in the ally right behind the bush in the left, back corner. (That is if it's there)

Their is also one right outside your door on your balcony if you own the house in Markarth. It's the only barrel that's on your balcony. (I actually have this one.) lol

No. I think it happens on alot of them. My manequin in Markarth spawns a Deadric shield everytime I return to my house from an adventure. And I didn't even equip one to it. I have a Ebony shield equiped. But I'll take the Deadric shields at 1600 gold. lol

You can actually get the manequins to work if you screw around with them. Put an entire set of armor on a manequin including a shield. Then open the manequin inventory again and take back the shield. Your armor should show up now. At least it works for me. And if you save your game inside the house, all of the armor will show up including the shield when you load the game. Weird.
