Hi all,

I've discovered a glitch which makes it impossible for me to finish the thieves guild questline. I read the FAQ and on other sites, but haven't seen this glitch anywhere. Hopefully that means it is not really a glitch, and you can tell me to relax and how to do it.

I want the full 1000 GS in Skyrim, and I am only missing ONE achievement, the "One with the Shadows" which requires you to return the thieves guild to its former glory.

I have completed the specual assignment for 3 of the 4 cities in question, but whenever I return to Vex/Delvin I never get any job in Windhelm, which is the city I am missing for the achievement to unlock. I've done more than 60 (!) objectives in other cities to try and get something in Windhelm, but they keep sending me to already completed cities.

I fear this has something to do with me finishing the civil war questline as imperial, as it saw me crush the stormcloaks in windhelm in the final mission. Reason for me believing this is, I got 3 jobs in Windhelm prior to the final civil war quest, but the final two I cannot get after completing that questline.

Do you have any idea what I should try here, or are you aware of the issue and will fix it in a future patch?

PS: I checked online, and found people with similar issues, though that was other cities (Markarth). They fixed this by doing the misc quest for the fence in the Ragged Flagon. I tried that, and that didn't fix my issue.

I just want to add one thing, although too late for the OP. The Thieves Guild quest line was so long, due to these city special quests, that I saved just before talking to the quest giver, and if he gave me an assignment in a town I'd already "finished", I simply reloaded and tried again till I got the right town. That way I did no more than the minimum requirement, which were far too many for my taste anyway.

Nobody? Really do not want to restart the game to get this done.

The guy above gave probably the best advise available at this point. The jobs are completely random and not tied to anything else.
Either save/reload till you get the right city, or give the job back and ask for another.

I FIGURED IT OUT!! SEEMS LIKE I DIDN'T FINISH THE SPEAK WITH THE IMPERIAL DUDE AFTER THE FINAL BATTLE, BECAUSE WHEN I RETURNED TO WINDHELM HE TALKED TO ME AND THEN ADRESSED HIS PEOPLE. THEN THEY ALL LEFT, I RETURNED TO THIEVES GUILD TO GET A WINDHELM JOB, AND BAAAM, LAST TWO WINDHELM JOBS COMPLETED. NO GLITCH, JUST SILLY ME.

(Sorry for Caps, just so glad I didn't have to do it all over again).
