TheMadTemplar presents:
Thieves Guild Headquarters - Overhaul
This is my first mod for Skyrim, and has been a challenge so far.The goal of this mod is to turn the Ragged Flagon Cistern into an HQ worthy of the Thieves Guild. In my opinion, the Cistern is the liveliest faction base in the game, but it is lackluster, especially after finishing the questline. The few upgrades it does receive are minor and insignificant. The entire idea for this mod is to make the Thieves Guild the ultimate hideout for the Guild Master, with all the necessities and amenities, including an abundance of storage to hoard and show off your wealth, and to improve the general atmosphere of the cistern. I am also trying very hard to make sure that nothing is lost.
There are several new areas, and some areas have been converted to other uses.
Guild Master treasury: DONE
I set the Golden Vault doors to unlock with the same key you receive upon becoming Guild Master. Yes, it is somewhat lore breaking since the door requires two keys, and at some point in the future I might look into changing things around, but for the time being the vault will become your own personal treasury(although armory is probably a better description in this case). I've removed all the clutter in the room and replaced it with 6 mannequins, 9 chests, 14 weapon plaques and 7 shield plaques. Outside the Vault Doors, after reaching the appropriate stage, are 4 display cases.
Armory expansion: In progress
The training area is being expanded, with a few new rooms.
- New armory, with tables and weapon racks. My idea was to make this the room where members would go gear up before heading out, picking the right tools for the job.
- Separate areas for archery and melee training.
- New room with full forge
- New garden area with alchemy workstation
Master suite:
Large room near the armory, designed for use by the GM. My idea for this room was to create a place where you could live in style. Initially I was going to create a museum with a small room connected containing the bed. However, the small room was expanded and turned into it's own area, reached through what is now going to be an actual museum. There is shelf space for almost 300 books, multiple wardrobes, cupboards, a desk and some shelving units, and several safes for your prized possessions. New static models displaying various treasures, gold and jewels as well, courtesy of Tony67 and Oaristys.
Storage room/Cellar: In progress
Upon entering the Cistern, to your right and left will be two rooms for storage. One is a cellar/pantry, containing most of the food stores for the Guild, and one could assume the Ragged Flagon as well. The other has yet to be decided on. I was thinking of using it as a storage room for useless or otherwise unsellable junk that the Guild stole, stuff that would not qualify making it into the vault. I am open to suggestions though, either stuff to put in there or other uses for the room.
Kitchen: In progress
Currently the kitchen area is located by the secret entrance, while the actual eating area is further in. It creates a hassle getting in and out around dinner time, as upwards of 4 people can be hanging out there. The new kitchen has been moved into a new room.
Cistern: IP
The entire central area will be reorganized as part of the other areas. The idea is to clean it up, keep the general feel while making it look nicer. I am toying with the idea of removing all the beds and relocating them to a single large chamber. That would leave the entire cistern free to make it the general living area for the guild. Suggestions are welcome for what I could place in all that free space if I choose to do so.
This mod originally started out with the intention of adding more safe storage to the cistern and changing the function of the vault for a guild master. However, it gradually turned into something much much more than that, and has more than doubled the size and space available in the Cistern, as well as increasing its functionality as a true Guild base. However, I kept everything within the same cell, which means that some PCs may suffer an FPS hit when entering. If I get a lot of complaints I'll look into making a liter version, taking away some of the eye candy.
Bugs:
I have not played through the entire Thieves guild questline with this mod active. If anything is broken let me know, I'll see if it is related to the mod as opposed to just a Skyrim bug. There are also some problems with persistant items remaining in their vanilla location. This occurs especially with a character that has already progressed through most or all of the TG questline. Also, I've found that if you have already received the Tribute Key before installing this mod, the key will not work on the extra doors I have assigned to it. In the future I will be adding a new key that should fix that.
Aside from a few random items that might be in an odd place (if you have been to the Cistern before installing), nothing serious has been found. I took great care in moving markers and quest locations.
Credits:
I used several new models and textures for this mod, even though initially I only wanted to use vanilla items. However, some of this stuff was just so awesome that I had to use it.
So a big thank you to Oaristys and Tony67 for their amazing models and textures. I honestly cannot think of a better place for some of this stuff than the hideout of thieves. Some treasures are just too good to sell.

I also used some new rug textures by mgbeach and trixterpriest.

Obviously this is a WIP, and I am still hard at work turning the Cistern into the Headquarters is deserves. Screenshots will be uploaded sometime soon. I have created everything so far from personal inspiration. If anyone has some ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them! Also, if you've seen a model in the game or another mod that you thought would look amazing in the cistern, let me know.
