So my Breton is level 9 at the moment, and she's on her way to High Hrothgar to meet the Greybeards and to learn the last two words of Unrelenting Force. The thing is though, after that.. I don't know what to do. I don't want to go straight to the college of Winterhold because their rewards are levelled and I'd rather wait to receive the best possible items. I don't wish to join any other guild, except maybe the Bard's College but that's not really classed as a guild, and I don't want to get involved in the Civil War. So what can I do? Does anyone know of any quests where the rewards are specifically magical? or where certain spells are located? I'm really stuck at the moment! I don't know where in Skyrim to explore first..

You could clear out Necromancers, caves that have magic users, vampire dens etc. As well as keeping you away from the college, you may find free spellbooks, level up your skills and explore the map at the same time. Sorry I can't help with specific 'magic' quests at this time.
