I think envy has helped me in life

I always feel that there is some sort of pleasure in seeing yourself outdo someone else.

Well cha. One of my greatest pleasures comes from the fact that a lot of the girls who made fun of my weight when I was chubby got knocked up senior year and are now pushing 200+lbs, not just because of unchecked pregnancy weight but also due to not having after school sports mitigate the junk food consumption during the day. It shouldn't make me feel good, and in the end, I don't really care; but it certainly feels nice sitting at 125-130lbs and having sat there for the last 10 years.

Negative opinions motivate me; I get a kick out of proving people wrong with actions.

I feel no sense of accomplishment from doing things better than them; only pity. They proved inferiority by speaking down on you in the first place. You're just adding misery to the miserable.

I think that's what envy is for. If it wasn't beneficial from an evolutionary standpoint it probably wouldn't be so deeply-ingrained in our brainses.

Yes when I dedicate super amounts of time to a game I feel like Voldemort. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UunqBAHBDo8 Taking pride in being better than others, but I have to keep my ego in check. Actually I feel he is a good representation of what I might become if I let my ego get too out of hand in general, not just games.

I don't like proving that I'm better than people, that's just rude and will end up annoying most people you meet. I do like proving people wrong though; for instance, my middleschool teachers recommended me for basic level classes in highschool, and when I opted for all high level classes, all but one said that I would not be able to do it successfully. Now that I'm out of highschool and at my dream school, it feels good to know that I disproved their doubts.

Well, what's "better" anyway? Maybe you're better than other people because you're so damn humble. "I'm the best at being humble. Nobody is better at being humble than I am!" :P
