I think my power supply is about to go to the grave yard

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 5:27 am

Everything was fine last night, turn it on today and I hear a buzzing sound coming from it. At first I thought it was coming from a fan but as I got near my pc it was coming from the power supply.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009 this is the one I have, does anyone have a better one they can suggest that will last more then 10 months?

You've only had it for 10 months? You should contact their support and see if they can do anything for ya. 10 months is a very short life for a PSU.

I also have a Corsair, though it's a 500 watt. Corsair's come with a power switch on the back and every time I turn on my PC off I hear it too. Simple solution for me was to simply switch it off after my PC is shut down for the night.

Corsair's PSU's are considered some of the best, and I'd be surprised if yours only lasted 10 months.

Actually I believe they were at one point considered the best. However, they are now having their psu's outsourced and manufactured by a different company. They then slap their stickers on it. So, that 850w is really a 750w. At least that's what I've read online so I may be way off base. But like it was stated already, contact support for help.

Should still be under the warranty, as folks have said. Corsair makes good PSUs, but there is always a chance with anything you buy that it'll break, it happens. They'll probably have you send it off to them, so you could be without a computer for a week or two.
