Daggerfall is fun, but starting out can be a chore if you don't know what you are doing.

Redguard also isn't bad, but it's far more of an adventure game with virtually no RPG elements. Basically, in Redguard, you run around collecting key items, talking to people, and exploring. Also, sword fighting with pirates.

I'd guess that it'd be similar to installing and playing the whole game, for which there are instructions in the pinned topic at the top. I've never tried the demo so I don't know what needs to be done differently when installing it. Sorry.

Redguard is one of the best games i ever played.

This is because i expect my games to posses the maturity and depth of a great novel

If you do too, i suggest you acquire the game!

redguard is sadly underrated and overlooked by most. Only because it's a retelling of history rather than making history, so your character is already developed.

It's the first TES title with 'modern' TES lore (battlespire and back has older, in some cases retcon'd lore). It's also the first with real lore on the dwemer, the first with a real dragon you can converse with, the first with lore on yokuda and yokudans & cyrodiils.

It plays a lot like the newer prince of persia titles, with a lot more depth. if TES fans gave it more of a chance, we could've got the game Eye of Argonia, and been to the black marsh by now.

Redguard makes me think of an action movie...only interactive. Has good graphics, interesting story...and shows one of the 'sload' race everyone asks about so often! I think it's probably a good buy, but my opinion's not everyone's, of course.
Daggerfall...well...I still have it installed, and still enjoy it above any other games I've played. It's just so addictive. I'll give up playing for a while, and a few weeks later be right back again, playing Daggerfall...I'll admit it has quite a few minuses(game-breaking bugs and save games going bonkers included), but the immersive and downright scary (at points) sound, and the atmosphere the game creates keeps my attention captured. Walking around in a certain town at night for the first time...that memory's always going to be stuck in my head, haha.

They both will, if DOSBox will work correctly...I at first thought DOSBox would be a real challenge, but the sticky gives a good step-by-step for installation of games/setting up, so it's worth a try.

I just picked up Redguard for like, a buck a few weeks ago (With Anvil of Dawn. Also a buck. Lucky evening) because it sounds pretty similar to the Quest for Glory games in a lot of way.

Where did you get it for a buck at?

Redguard is closer to Tomb Raider than Quest for Glory. No stats, no skills, (almost?) no sense of humour, no choice of character class (and so no different playing styles or paths through it)...

Actually, if you don't have it, why don't you get Quest for Glory? :)
I hesitate in recommending it because of all the bugs (worse than DF), but that series is one of my favourites.

I don't know the market price of Quest for Glory. I think DF is a better game than QfG and Redguard. Especially if the reason you are looking at these games is because you played MW or Ob.

Edit: The reason I recommended QfG is because I think it is better than Redguard.

QfG2 has a freeware VGA remake by the AGD team. They're much better games than anything from the TES series.

Is freeware even legal?
