Thinking about getting a Wii

Post » Fri Feb 15, 2013 7:34 pm

Hey guys.

I have been thinking about getting a Wii. I want it for its awesome local multi player games.
Do all or most Wii games work with a game cube controller?
I'm thinking about getting it for Mario, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Zelda, Pikman, etc.
I think getting the extra controllers will be the expensive part.

Any thoughts on purchasing a Wii right now? Know of any good deals on them? (I'm in Canada)

Also, should I go with an older backwards compatible model, a newer model, or the Wii Mini?

Probably actually better forking out that little bit more for a Wii U. Its backwards compatible anyway I believe so you'd get to enjoy the game libraries of both console.

A lot of Wii games do work with a controller, Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers certainly do. I dont believe the Mario Galaxy games do, nor does Skyward Sword. You would have to check for each individual game.

Its $100 for a Wii Mini and the games are really cheap used.

I was talking to someone today and they said the disks scratch easily. Maybe they mishandle the disks? Is it possible to install the games onto a SD card/hard drive?

I've treated my disks like crap and they still work fine.

I dont think you can actually install the games to the internal HDD though. Its tiny and only used for savegame storage I believe (and too many games means you need to use an SD card for savegame storage).
