This A Chair Full of Bowlies

I've been caught between choosing the NCR and House (playing a good guy, as I often do), until it came time when House asked me to eliminate the Brotherhood. Can't do it, so I figured it's time to put an end to House.
I go down to his little chamber, determined to put an end to him... and there he is in his little tube. I unseal him, and starts yelling at me about all the time, preparation, and work towards Good.. wasted. I tell him I'll let him live and just disconnect him, he tells me he'd rather die.

It broke my heart. I quite (didn't save) and don't know what to do now...

I understand that House, NCR and the Legion are all guided by different philosophies. You decide whom you wish to support (if any) based upon whose philosophy you wish to support.

House seemed to have it all figured out (space colonization in a century, WHAT?!), and the NCR is... well, trying to pick up the pieces and reform a democratic government. Caesar's philosophy is well enough, but his practices are abominable. Can't do it.

However, House wants me to eliminate the Brotherhood... and this is still a sticking point. Can't do it.
I'm forced to, however heartbreaking it is, stop Odo. I don't know whether I'll kill him or not though, as (I think) keeping him alive aids the Followers via that bug you plant.

If you want to be black and white, then NCR is good, House is a bit of both, and CL is evil. In my opinion, NCR is good in theory but is actually strangling the people, House is evil but it doesn't really harm anyone (except the BoS), and Caesar's Legion is good but with the added unpleasantry of slavery (just like in the Pitt). Oh yeah,

Spoiler
All three factions ask you to take out the BoS. :(

Spoiler
You can negotiate between NCR and BoS, not sure on the others

OT: I think it's a testament to how good Fallout can be that you actually have to sit back and consider these moral choices.

Uh, the BoS aren't exactly nice guys, either. They're comparable to the NCR in that they're on a thin line between Neutral and Evil.

The real good ending is a free New Vegas, with The King taking control.

Mr. House has the right idea but he wants to save the planet, not humanity. That, if it so happens, is just a bonus.

I'm not in favor of the BoS because of their philosophy, only because of how much I enjoyed interacting with them in FO2 and FO3 (though the ones in 3 were fairly radical).

Quick side note, NCR wanted me to kill the BoS. I told the BoS and they told me to tell the NCR to make an alliance and easy as that. Kept my favorite minor faction with my favorite larger faction. Thanks for not being douches Obsidian! :)

Alright, well this is good to know at least... otherwise I would have had to burn the world to the ground to keep my beloved Brotherhood.

Am I right that disconnecting but not killing House benefits the Followers?

I ended up going the Wild Card route to avoid defeating the Brotherhood. Of course, there's apparently a non-violent way to handle the Brotherhood by doing their quests. They just don't tell you about this option.

It's actually a pretty good ending, Wild Card. It's not destructive, it's a free Vegas.
