This DLC is seriously bugged

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:20 am

i never got the letter from the jarl so cant start the DLC. And i get buy all three land plots because you need to complete "Waking nightmare" which is bugged also. So i just wasted 400 MS points i dont know how you could screw up this bad on such a small DLC

You dont NEED the letters to start, just talk to the Jarl's stewards.

You don't get a letter from the Jarl if you're already a Thane of the hold. You must visit yourself and ask to buy a plot of land. Waking Nightmare being bugged will unfortunately prevent you from purchasing a home in the Dawnstar plot. You'll either need to build one elsewhere or start a new game.

I think he's saying a quest he's required to complete in order to buy property is bugged for him, cause you need to be Jarl to purchase property, right? Falkreath, the Pale and Morthal all have very particular quests that need to be completed to become Thane, sounds like one is bugged for him.

Worst comes to worst, delete Hearthfire, go to Falkreath with HF uninstalled, see if you can become Thane via regular quests, then re-install HF

You need to be level 9 to do anything Hearthfire related. Also, you can't have a bounty in the hold you want to build a house in. At least, thats what I found. My level 7 dude didn't recieve any letter after days of consecutive waiting. But after turning level 9 and fast travelling to the Whiterun stables, BOOM, there he was.

I did it all at level one. Anyway, only bug I had is that two of my three houses didn't auto-decorate when I paid the steward. I don't intend on using any of the houses, so it doesn't bother me, but it's kind of odd that I have staff living in a completely empty house. I don't feel like manually adding stuff for them. When they said you could buy materials from your steward, I assumed they meant ingots and everything else. It's too much work to decorate a home you don't want to live in when you have to hunt down resources.

You need the Waking nightmare quest to buy land and that quest is bugged for me I don't see why Bethesda put requirements on them especially for quests that can be broken

I can't for the life of me get Falkreath to make me a thane to purchase the land. I've done every quest I can think of for them, and quite a few radiant ones as well as selling wood, etc... Still no option to buy land or even become a thane.

I'm level 41, no bounty, I'm thane in all of the holds, I have purchased one plot of land (Dawnstar) but neither of the other two gave me the option to buy.

I've only been given the adoption letter.

It's clearly buggy (yes, even by Skyrim standards), and I'm shocked that this wasn't noticed.

I just don't get why they put arbitrary requirements on quests like this - it just results in more bugs.
