The title is my question, and... Is this a game like Skyrim? Can you explore, talk to people, go to caves... You understand what I mean - or is this something totally different?

This an MMO so nope not on console.

This. You will be able to use a controller with keyboard/mouse mapping software such as Xpadder or pinnicle gaming profile, I have written guides on how to use them going back to 2008.\

I imagine it would be very similar to set-up

Thanks for the help! But still is it like Skyrim? Can you do quests, go to caves etc? I have the money for a gaming PC so wanna be sure!

It's an MMO so yes.

I suggest you look up MMO then you will understand.

duh.....

This isn't the WOW forums, have a bit of respect for people who might not of played a MMO before. To the OP, yes you can do quests and go to caves/dungeons and many more things but you are doing these things along side thousands of other players in a persistent world.

I'm sorry but you are being rude here...

MMO means MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE
MMORPG seems to be what you are referring to.

and there are MMO games that are NOT RPG's therefore you don't go in caves or quest.

Also "Destiny" by Bungie is a console MMO
