"This game will unlock in approximately..."

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 8:27 am

Ok so I'm preloaded! Steam tells me approximately 14 hours, which is around 2am Friday NZ time. Does anyone else have an approximate time that doesn't match midnight? Should I sit here refreshing at midnight or set my alarm for 2am to try to get some sleep first :spotted owl:

I didn't buy the digital version. I'll have to wait 2 hours for it to load once I get the game :(

But at least I get a neat map :deal:

Oh and:

Mine says 1 day 6 hours, which is indeed midnight in my time zone, which is surprising since that time zone is CST. Normally these unlock at EST, maybe daylight savings is to thank?

Pete already confirmed that the actual Steam unlock time would be midnight (or near midnight) in each time zone, not one worldwide unlock time.

That seems weird, Steam tells me it will unlock 2 AM here in Sweden. Are they just messing around or do we have to endure 2 more hours? :cryvaultboy:

That's midnight in Aus. Can't remember where but I remember reading that the NZ unlock times would actually be for the Australian time

That's weird, mine says it's 1 day and 1 hour left. Maybe it'll refresh at 1 AM?

Edit: This man was right! Thanks, bro, one hour earlier means one hour more Skyrim. : >

Looks like that's just counting down to midnight in the browser's timezone, not to the actual unlock time? I hope it is right of course!

That's not exactly very fair for people in later time zones... Some people will end up playing for an entire day before others can, depending on your time zone.

People really do not read anything I assume. There are different unlock times all around the world. First unlock is 12AM Australian time on their east coast. (thats why NZ people see it as 2AM.) You have the unlock in the US at 12AM EST. Also the Eurpean unlock is 12AM in the UK I believe.

Edit: This is old news, and there will not be an unlock for every time zone sorry! Just the three above. Example I live in Texas, so my unlock would be 11PM CST on the 10th. But I have an Aussie VPN so I'll get it 15 hours ahead at 8AM when the Aussies are unlcoking at midnight their time.
