I ran into him just yesterday, too. Somewhere south of Helgen it was.

My only encounter with a dog companion so far had been Barbas, so I wasn't very excited about having a follower that would push me off cliffs and bark all the time, but I allowed him to follow me. And I was really pleasantly surprised. Contrary to the annoying daedric mutt, he did not try to kill me by pushing me around, and he was silent most of the time. He also didn't "detect" me all the time and didn't ruin my sneaking.

However, when I then went back to Riverwood, he disappeared when I entered the trader's house. I've no idea where he's now.

I had Meeko follow me for a while then I told him to stay in the courtyard in Solitude. I thought he might wander about but he just lays there.

It would be good if you could give him to the children playing chasey.

I've picked up two stray dogs before. One between Riften and Black Briar Manor and one somewhere up in the snowy mountains. I heard some wolves, and readied my bow, but when I zoomed in to get a better look, I saw this stray dog and two dead wolves. LOL He then followed me and I took him home to Riften, fed him and told him to wait. He wandered off after a while though.

I've also had Meeko before. I think he's still at the Riften home with one of my characters. lol

Oh I couldn't stand Barbas following me. He's a very pushy dog! LOL I got the Axe, gave it to Clavicus and told him to take back his dog! hahaha

If Meeko is left alone for more than 3 days he returns to his home. So just recuperate him in his Shack which is South/slightly West of Solitude and West of the Apprentice Stone. After that your map will be updated with Meeko's Shack written on it. If you don't see him inside, just wait and he'll come.

My little Stray Dog disappeared in Riften. I spent a good 30 minutes looking for him to no avail. I was convinced he got stuck in a building somewhere. I swear I could hear him barking, but that might just be Barbas. I'm actually a bit saddened that he ran off. The dog definitely was a great companion. I told Barbas to stop following me, and he's gone too (good riddance). Now I'm dogless.

I met the stray dog but he got in the way of an errant sword swing, so there were two dead wolves and a dead dog laying in the road. Also killed the dog at Markarth stables. I was running a numbers job and he started barking, so an arrow to his face shut him up.

I love the idea of having a dog in the game but the damn thing becomes an annoyance.

I saved one from wolves and he started following me... Then i told him to say outside a cave, and went in, came back out and he was gone. Oh well...

I absolutely loved Barbas. Took him everywhere. I actually put off the quest so that I could keep him around. Now I am looking to find another dog. I was thinking about buying one in at the stable in Markarth.

I lost my dog companion Sad. Got to like him. He attacks spiders like they are mice, so brave! I found him in the forest west from Riften, and he followed me as soon as I 'talked' to him. At the blue palace in Windhelm I told him to wait for me, as I had a brief visit to Winterhold planned. When I came back to the palace, no stray dog Any ideas where he could have went? How to find out?

Are the dogs for sale near Markarth (if I remember correctly) just as strong?
