Is this a safe method of reviving Lydia?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 12:08 pm

I found a video on youtube on how to revive lydia:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DIrriDy8rM

can anyone tell me if it is a safe method or whether it can hurt achievements or something?

save/quit after doing that, and achievements should be ok.

Yes it is safe. Achievements are not turned off when you play around with the console in this game.

Faster way would be to open console, click on Lydia's corpse while in console, then type "resurrect".

Within the same session in which you opened the console, they are supposed to be. Are you saying that's false?

Yeah, I am. Easy to test by giving yourself 100k gold, if you haven't earned that achievement yet, you will get it.

Usually in Bethesda's games what you said is true, but not in this one.

I tired using the "/resurrect" command at first but it didn't work

but the method in the video worked for me

If you want to use "resurrect", then:

-open the console while Lydia's corpse is visible on screen

-click on her

-type "resurrect"

The command requires a target (and doesn't want a forward slash).

this

easy, quick and works flawlessly. I sometimes resurrect townfolk after random dragon rampage, heh.

You should be careful when using resurrect by default it will respawn the character which may delete any equipment being carried. I think if you use resurrect 1 on a person this will actually revive them.

This is where player.placeatme will come in handy.

No way to resurrect a dead person without console. And no dead thrall does not count because the person is still a groaning zombie and takes up on of your summon spots -___-.

Also a better console command is click npc then type: resurrect 1
Normal resurrect command will actually reset the NPC and potentially make you loose gear etc on the toon.

Not entirely related, but: Does a follower level up with you if you use them? I've had Lydia since lvl 8 or so, but as a sneaker I have little to no use for her. As of lvl 35 I can sneak-shot kill her with 1 glass arrow from my superior glass bow.

That doesn't instill confidence. Does she always remain level [crap] and become obsolete over time?

Companions level with you over time but for some reason their skill do not (people assume its a glitch). To fix it (if you are on pc. If you are not then you are out of luck) go to console command, click lydia, type "disable" (no quotations) and type "enable" to refresh her stats.

I'm on PC, so I'll try that if I ever feel I need another companion... thanks.

Fully resurrect?
Unfortunately no (besides reloading an old save).
You can dead thrall her but she is just a zombie then

Because:
1. Lydia is the first companion most people get
2. The companion leveling system in this game is [censored] and doesn't level companions properly. They get set in the level when you first load their cell.
3. Most people first meet Lydia at the low levels (as in below 10). Once they start hitting lvl 15-20 Lydia can barely take two hits before kneeling over and eventually the player by accident will blow her straight to hell with magic, or snipe her in the back, or chop her in accident and its game over for her.
4. Shes a melee fighter. She gets in the way... WAY too much
5. All together if she actually leveled properly and wasn't a [censored] melee toon she prob wouldn't die so much.
