This is why you cater to the 1%

Yet another post that reveals that Carbine has a clue about what its doing. Between this and how they handled the beta leak information one would think that ZOS would steal a page from Carbines playbook.

Just because the 1% is very vocal does not mean they are right. Giving in to the 1% has caused a lot of game to go to crap.

eh not really impressed. IMO they can afford to say such things because they know they will attract a smaller niche customer base and don't have much to loose really. Carbine is a relatively unheard of studio and this is what, NCsoft's MMO #19578458967? Besides talk, as always is cheap, what matters is how it actually all comes together in game.

Whereas with ZOS it has investors and a parent company to answer to so its Devs can't just go around saying w/e they want. Its a common theme really the smaller the budget, the more niche the audience the more free the Devs seem to be with what they say. Doesn't mean ZOS Devs don't feel the same way and share the same views just means that can't really afford to talk as freely because there is more to answer to in bigger budget AAA MMO's.

There's about 100 different 1% categories in the MMO genre, you can't cater to them all 100%. Spreading your net wide is the only way to get minimal success. WildStar won't be anything special but I'm sure the small game from a small company will generate the revenue they aim to make with it.

Fourthed.

Seriously, you can't just cater to the 1%, because like Carde said there are many different versions of the 1%. Are you talking about the 1% that hardcoe raids, or the 1% that PvPs at a hardcoe level? You cater to one you will alienate the other people in the game.

Good read.

By the way that 1% is never 1%.

I think that 1% is used way to much. Every time someone feels like he is in the Majority he uses it as an argument to tell the peoples that everyone who disagress is just in the 1% corner.

I heard that alot like "Lol only 1% are Raiding!" or "Lol only 1% making PvP" "only 1% are Roleplayers!"

I dont know if that comes from somehwhere else too but first i saw this in an Wow Forum where Blizzard said something about "Only 1% of our Players did finish Naxxramas" (In Classic) That cause alot peoples to think (Dont ask me why) that only 1% of the players are actually Raiding at all.

Is that 1% of anything really confirmed somewhere?
