Those evil English…I mean Thalmor

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:14 pm

There are many moral ambiguities in Skyrim, but one thing is sure: the Thalmor are just plain bad guys.

How do we know this? They have an upper class English accent of course!

Nords speak mainly in Nordic or Austrian accents, Imperials and Redguards mostly have an American accent, Bosmer and Dunmer seem often to have a kind of cockney/Australian lilt, and the beast races are kind of a special case.

But the Thalmor are English, and posh, and clever, and therefore Evil with a capital E.

It’s not the first time, of course: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilBrit

Because they blame men for losing their immortality and they actually may be right.

Yeah I hate the English too (Scottish).

EDIT: It's a well know fact the Americans distrust intelligence, hence why all British are bad guys.

A hero is only as good as their villain, so I take it as a huge compliment.

Stormcloaks and 50% of the town guards are German. Jarl Ulfric is just the Finnish Hitler, really.

Good for you!

That has nothing to do with the conversation, so it's pointless.

But good for you!

Ontopic...

Yeah, that happens alot. Hence the trope.

Nice thread, too bad you had to drag real world politics into it.
