Those Goblin things had spearspikes...

Post » Thu Nov 08, 2012 5:10 am

In the Dragonorn trailer, one of the shots during Dovahkiin's (you) killing montage was 3 little goblin like humanoids. One seems to be mounted on a kind of beast but that one, like one of the others is holding a spear/pike.

A lot of people wanted to see spears and pikes in the Dawnguard DLC. Is Beth actually going to make them now? and more importantly do they come in man/mer sizes?

Ok they are Reiklings, lets stay on topic here

It depends if they are lootable and aren't glued to their hands and bodies like the armor thieves and assassins love to keep from us.

Todd did say however that spears could not be implemented due to engine limitations. But I have my doubts. They all ready added two new perk trees so...It's probable.

I think it's probable. It's like an over-sized arrow and you remove the bow. But the flight aspect is virtually the same. You have a projectile flying through the air at a target. Well, if they are able to implement spears then that could open up a whole new world of throwing knives and throwing axes as well as possibly darts and slings and other projectile weapons. We've had bows in vanilla, then crossbows got added with DLC, now possibly spears with a new DLC - so it appears there may be a trend developing.

One can only hope...

Where did he say that? I thought spears weren't added because they wanted to make the weapons they did have feel unique or something, it was in the Gamejam as well.

As others have stated they are reiklings. It should also be noted that reikling spears were used as daggers Morrowind since they were too small. So I'm guessing they'll either be a thrown weapon, which I'm all in favor for. Or they won't be lootable at all... which is sadly much more likely.

What? Dude, I am just telling you how it is written properly.
Not everyone talks english, you know? It's probably a Nord word. It's spelled "Riekling". Period. That is not open to discussion.

Actually they are small blue things that dress like mongols, and care such badass weapons like lance made of wolf head, and gigant meat clever, this is more important then their name I think.
God I hope wolf lance will make comeback, or maybe thouse are just Goblins from tribunal that escaped from mournhold in whitch case I will be a sad Cryticus

Of course... forgive me stupid question
no problem and besides might as well let PS3 users know
but personally if we can use them i HIGHLY doubt that we will get new perks i think they will just lump them in with existing perks and have no specialized perks
although if they gave a special boost for sweeping attacks (TH) than that would be pretty sweet

If they do introduce spears and javelins, I suspect they'll work them into the other perk-trees as oppose to making new ones. Spears being one or two handed and javelins being archery, of course.

As for whether we'll be able to loot them, it's another case of wait and see. They were in the gamejam display, and we have seen some of the features mentioned there introduced, but part of me still feels they'll be glued to the Rieklings.

No, he said at the end of the day you can't do every weapon that ever existed, so they pick the main weapons they want to detail and go with it. It just happens that spears weren't part of that at the time. It would have taken an entirely new weapon strike system with custom animations and attacks. That's all.

There's a chance they will add them.

You know what happened after that? One of the Devs was able to make spears and put them into Skyrim, animations and all, in a WEEK. Yeah, right "can't be implemented".
