Those songs you hate to love

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 5:33 am

We all have them. They're the songs we listen to on our own with our head phones in and prefer our friends don't know we have them

I'll start with a few of mine

Eh, I don't really know if there's a song I hate to admit liking. I SUPPOSE you could say I like the beats to certiant segments of Lady Gaga songs that I catch on TV or something, but I dont actively listen to any of those songs, so in short, there's really nothing I can think of.

Any song by Justin Beiber. I actually really like him as a person too...
Oh and I love One Direction as well!

Any My Little Pony song.

I love them and have no problem with loving them, but I'm one of three bronies at my school, in a student population of over 1,000.

I have had very few people actually look at my entire library, or even have access to my mp3 player on shuffle all. I have discovered, however, that my own ideas about my music are very different from other people's.

For example I have a Veggie Tales song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaWU1CmrJNc, on there. To me this is a fairly innocuous and fun little song from my childhood, nestled in the Sea Shanties folder next to The Good Ship Venus and Barrett's Privateers. I wouldn't ever think someone would be freaked out by it.

But lo and behold it's not the Anime music, or the Jazz, or the JPop music, or even the http://www.hongfire.com/cg/data/25/caramelldansen.swf that gets people. It's Veggie Tales.

Edit: So I relegate pretty much 100% of my library for that reason as "not for other ears". People can't handle the music.

Lo and behold the joys of the standards we're held to as advlts. Me personally, I find it interesting when people have a 'kids song' because it reflects (to me at least) what part of their inner child is still alive and kicking the most.

i'm curious of what you guys usually listen to :D a lot of these songs are nothing to be embarrassed about, but it depends on your usual musical taste.
i like to say there's a difference between a GOOD and a catchy song.

Nothing all that exciting. Either big band or swing, some jazz (traditional and smooth), 1920s,30s, and 40s contemporary/pop songs, and I can listen to electronic music depending on the song.

I know, about 80% of my mates are die hard Metal fans though and I already have huge clashes with them over my favourite genre (country) I just save myself the headache

Can't think of anything I feel guilty about. At worst it would be anime soundtracks, old school gangsta rap, or random stuff like Loituma.

True, but something about those lyrics is like one of those 'scrawny to buff' movie montages. But the song is blood pumping for me

I can't think of anything, I usually use a headset, but that's mainly because I don't want to disturb anyone.
And Colonel Martyr "You're the best around" is freakin' amazing, nothing to be ashamed of there.

Wow, you've picked some truly horrible songs by bands/groups that are not relevant anymore.

I have an entire list of songs I hate to...no, I just hate them. There are too many to list.
