A thought on the Huskie problem

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 7:07 am

Several people, including me, have reported that when we try to recruit the huskies, we get a message saying we already have a follower even though we don't . I just had a thought where that might be coming from. On my first visit to Fort Dawnguard I saw those puppies back there and spoke to both of them but nothing happened. Then when I went back after the MQ was over, I got the message that I already had a follower. I am wondering if speaking to them before Gunyar (Gunmer?) shows up is causing the problem. If you don't speak to them until that point, does the problem still occur? Should the puppies be removed from the castle until Gunyar (Gunmer?) shows up?

How I fixed the same problem you had written above ~ "Already have a follower"

Go to Meekos Shack if your Meeko is still alive in your game. Ask Meeko to follow you and he will ~ then tell Meeko to go home.

Then head back to Castle Dawnguard and recruit your Huskie!

side note: Bran is the absolute best!

Meeko couldn't follow me either :/ Sooo I killed the bastard.. and every other dog in the game I encounter just to be sure that's not the animal that's following me. I also can't recruit armored trolls, total bummer.

@Jibb maybe you recruited one of the random spawn dogs to follow you somewhere and it fell thru the world.

its possible being that its skyrim.

This is being caused by the stray dog event. Basically there is a stray dog encounter in the wild where he is fighting some animals, if the animals are defeated he adds himself to your group. This can even happen without your knowledge, he will basically follow you around. But when you enter a building he will randomly disappear forever yet the dog slot is still being taken up by him. The only way to avoid this bug is to slay every stray dog you come across.

Btw killing meeko and vigilance is unecessary.

Thanks for the info. Don't like the idea of killing strays, but I'm sure the SPCA will understand.
