Thoughts and info about issues people have with the test

Post » Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:01 am

I, like many others was VERY, VERY disappointed and even sad when I didn't get into the pre-alpha test.

I'm a logical person, and I actually can't see many flaws in the management of this test. So really, I don't know why I'm so unhappy about not being accepted into it.

Reasons for various things:

- It's 360 only because they want to keep things small and manageable for now, and a good way to do that is to limit it to one system. The test is probably for Xbox Live Servers for Crysis 2, so that could be another reason.

- The first set of invites (The ones a lot of people got, with the "sign up" button) was to narrow the community down to those who have Xbox 360's (You're only to click the button if you have one)

- The second set of emails with the keys were only sent to some people because, again they wanted to keep it small.

Thanks to the new edit button, I can add to this list if I think of more things to post.

However, there is one problem with the management...

The staff rarely answer questions directly. They always seem to 'beat about the bush'. Thanks to the time it takes for them to actually reply, common questions are often forgotten and left unanswered.

My questions to Crytek:
Please answer the following directly, and if you can, tell us something that we didn't already know.

- How were the actual participants (The ones who received keys) chosen? Was it forum activity? Was it random?

- Why did some people not even receive the first set of invites (The ones to "gauge interest")? Or was that just the fault of spam filters?

- How many are participating? (I think it's safe to say that you certainly know the answer to this)

- Will there be future, larger scale tests/betas? (You don't need to answer this one, I understand your need to keep future plans private)

It's only 360 because they are doing an XBOX LIVE stress test. XBOX LIVE.

Point taken. I will edit the post.

A clan mate of ours got into the test and didnt post here once, so I think the participants were chosen randomly.

Besides, he told me I wasnt missing out on much anyway. xD

Because it's an actual test and not a free demo like apparently everyone on here thinks.

First come first serve, this was stated previously on the forums and in the comments of the news post we put up.

- Why did some people not even receive the first set of invites (The ones to "gauge interest")? Or was that just the fault of spam filters?

That will be the fault of spam filters or people signing up after they were sent. Some mail providers block mass mail alltogether.

- How many are participating? (I think it's safe to say that you certainly know the answer to this)

It's a small test, more than the previously stated "900 people" but we're not going into exact figures. We know how many people we need to meet our test needs and we've invited enough people for that.

- Will there be future, larger scale tests/betas? (You don't need to answer this one, I understand your need to keep future plans private)

If there are any future tests or a beta it will be announced on gamesas.com.
