My thoughts on Dawnguard PS3(not bashing Bethesda)

Post » Sun Sep 02, 2012 6:32 am

Warning: I am NOT bashing Bethesda or anything like that in this thread.

All I have to say is I'm not as mad, as I am disappointed. While my friends are all talking about how awesome Dawnguard is and how awesome Hearthfire will be, I'm sitting in the corner, twiddling my thumbs, while I'm waiting for it to finally be released. I appreciate Bethesda's honesty about that there is a low chance they can fix the Dawnguard PS3 problems, but at the same time, I have lost hope in ever getting add ons for PS3. I still love the actual game, I am just disappointed how this whole mess has played out. Bethesda, if you're listening, just one simple request. If this DLC is EVER released for PS3, may it be 2 more months, or 3, or 4, or a YEAR. Please, just either give it to us for free, a discounted price, or bundle it with future DLC. What is everyone's thoughts on this matter?

To be honest I recommend you trade in your PS3 and either buy a powerful PC or an xbox 360 depending on how much cash you have to spare. Bethesda is not the only developer that has had serious issues when it comes to designing a game for PS3 compatibility. I don't think Dawnguard will ever be released for the PS3, it's really not looking good and that's not down to a lack of trying on Bethesda's part. They've been working for months now on trying to make the DLC compatible with PS3 versions of Skyrim, remember they are a business and if they could have released it by now they would have.

I don't really think they should release it for free or for a discounted price, like I said it's not their fault the PS3 throws up so many problems for game developers. They've also spent a large amount of money no doubt on working to try and make the PS3 version compatible with Dawnguard. I do however think Bethesda should not have released Skyrim for PS3, they knew the technical issues that were bound to occur and they knew the problems they experienced when trying to design the game for that particular console.

I doubt the PS3 will not get Dawnguard because that means less profit for Bethesda and it would mean all the work that they have done on the PS3 version would have been wasted. I also think a discount is unlikely.

I did not realise a PS3 could trade in for a few hundred, if not a few thousand $ :o

It IS Bethesdas fault, they released an unfinished product and have yet to show any progress with it. Buying a car advertised as fully refurbed and working, yet only to recieve it half finished and with half the parts is not exactly legal, false advertising you know?

They've stated they aren't sure if they'll be able to release it for PS3. They would not make this statement if there wasn't a large chance that they would be able to release it. I hope they can in the end, I do empathise with PS3 players (the one's that aren't attacking Bethesda at least).

Bethesda took forever to release the Fallout 3 DLC for PS3 and stated they had trouble, but they eventually got through it. Although I do agree it is worrying that they have stated they are not sure if they can release it.

Fingers crossed anyway.

Why does everyone have to have an opinion on ps3 and skyrim, just get on with it. You haven't got everything you wanted? You think it isn't 100% fair compared to other platforms? Tough [censored], that's life. Just be patient.

They are taking longer for a stable release of dawnguard, do you want a buggy add on that breaks your system? Sick of these threads.

Honestly I don't even care anymore, I played Skyrim for a while and now I'v moved on to other games. Do I feel like it's unfair and lazy of bethesda to disreguard PS3 players they have been doing, of course I do. But at the end of the day Bethesda's just losing customers which hurts their bottom line, I don't expect to be buying any more Bethesda games for a while myself. While I've loved every Beth game I've played so I just feel like every time they release a game we get a faulty second rate product. And I'd rather spend my money on a title that I know is going to work well and be properly supported like Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

I get the feeling that they are doing this to "force" ps3 users to buy a Xbox instead.. probably some nasty deal they got with Microsoft :)

Fixed. The design specs are 7 years old. They are a known factor Beth chose not to follow them.
As for never having released the game on the PS3 I agree wholeheartedly. They only wanted the money from the people they tricked with the prerelease hype.
