What's everyone's opinion on the DLC ? ive not had time to download it yet due to work and other things.

Does it give enough customization, is It fun etc ? Just some user opinion would be good. I'll be downloading it tonight.

Excellent fun for me but it was TOTALLY RANDOM! fun. A couple of hours before I had gotten a quest off Gunnar in the Dawnguard "Rescue Hod" who had been taken hostage by a Master Vampire.

I let that quest lie and downloaded Hearthfire and almost immediately got a letter from the steward of Falkreath, where I'd been doing some thane quests. I start building my house in Falkreath only to find out I needed to buy wood from a lumber mill. So I had to rescue Hod to get my supply of timber - epic quest!

There's no real customization, you can only build the given design. So far I've built a one room house with basic furniture. I can't choose different flooring or other decor or place things other than where they get planted, the bed goes to a set place like all the other furniture. My place is between Falkreath and Riverwood quite a nice location, only 10 minutes from the lake. I think it's better starting with a new hero or heroine since you don't rush and build the whole thing all at once and the place will grow as you do.

There is a certain level of satisfaction that comes with building the wings, and building all the things in the house yourself.

Personally, I didn't expect it to have a high level of customization especially for $5 so I can't say I am dissapointed in that regard. I totally agree with your last statement about it being better on a new playthrough. I only have two playthroughs and both characters have alot of money to run around and buy all the supplies they need. It will add a lot of rpg value for a new character that can't buy everything right away and has to build his home slowly. I'm looking forward to building a home with a new character and actually have him live in the small house layout with just the frame built for the main hall and to build the majority of the house out of found materials.

As someone already mentioned, It′s a true dissapointment that you′re only avaible to build after a given design.

Another thing is that all the 3 houses avaible to build looks the SAME. Fine, what do you expect of a 5$ DLC but a little variation would be nice! :)

I do wish that there were more customizable options as to where you can place things but it's worth the $5 to get it. I do like all the different wings you can build and my favorite is the trophy room.

For the RP experience, I'm loving it. Taking my time with my new Manor and getting everything just right.

For $5 I wasn't expecting to pick sides in a war between Coldharbour and Quagmire... this is a perfect, depth adding DLC for this game.

Definitely worth every penny. :D

So after starting this topic a few hours ago I've finally been playing it and I am very happy with it. I understand the house isn't truly customisable to the point you can change the colour and place things wherever you want but I wasn't expecting that to begin with. I love the RP element of it and it feels quite rewarding to see your success in Skyrim paying off with a massive house. I hate kids, so I won't be keeping any locked up in my home. Just disappointed I shot my wife a month ago, would of been a better experience if she was there from a RP sence. still not figured out how to hire people to maintain the house but I'm sure YouTube will tell me how. Overall I'm delighted with it, I picked the house called Lakeview Manor outside Falkreath. The view is amazing and I actually wrote out a list on paper of the materials I would need instead of constantly going back home to craft things and seeing I didn't have the correct stuff. Great bit of DLC.

It's a small DLC, designed to provide a deeper and more immersive role-playing experience. If you expect more than that, you will be disappointed.

For me, I've only seen it played, and I know I want it. Badly.

Well worth the money, I have been having a lot of fun perfecting my housebuilding and defending skills. A pity they never fixed the problems with moving objects around, but we can always hope they do that later. Once my first character manages to get his three houses built for the third time, I intend sitting down to patiently decorating them with all the stuff he has stored up. His collection is a lot more interesting than the second character's, and my third really has nothing to put in a house.

It would be nice if some of the hay bales were a bit bigger though, I was disappointed they were so tiny and not even flat on all sides, will be investigating their possibilities for home decorating soon.

I have wanted the house building system back since Morrowind. This more than delivers on that front and for the price of it, you can't really complain anyway. :tops:
