Throat of the World Glitch : V

Hey I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I was on the Quest for "The Throat of the World' and when attempting to learn the shout from Paarthurnax it doesn't appear on the wall. I have two fire shouts already and I'm not sure if that is the issue or not? I'm not really sure what to do and really don't feel like starting over as I've already sunk 99 hours into.

I didn't get the third word of Fire Breath from Paarthurnax, I believe I got it on a word wall in a random dungeon. I'm not sure if the word wall Paarthurnax sits on is even active, but I do know that Paarthurnax only gives you one word for Fire Breath.

Yeah I learned two from random walls during quests and now nothing appears on the wall like it does normally in videos I've seen youtubed. Now that I can't learn it it won't allow me to complete the quest. It has the objective "Learn the Word of Power from Paarthurnax" with an arrow pointing to where it should be but nothing appears on the wall. http://youtu.be/4UFd7LZ18yg

Ok just as a little update... I figured out that if you use the Fire Breath shout on Paarthurnax it will allow you to continue the quest but you will never learn the 3rd form of it. I've been back to both Dustman's Cairn and Sunderstone Gorge. I don't know it this should be patched in the future where you will learn the 3rd form from Paarthurnax but to anyone playing this game over I'd suggest learning the 1st form from Paarthurnax then doing the Champions Quest in Dustman's Cairn to get the 2nd and Sunderstone Gorge for the 3rd.

That's not quite accurate. I only knew the first word before visiting Paarthurnax and somehow learned the 2nd and 3rd words from him.

Did he teach you the 2nd form and send you on a quest for the 3rd? When I went to him he shot his breathe at the wall and instead of the words appearing on there nothing happened.

Hi, I just reached this part of the main story. I saved before talking to Paarth.

1) I made an error after learning the 2nd Fire Breath word. I opened the shout menu and spent 1 dragon soul to unlock the second word. It felt like such a clueless mistake, and oddly I timed it without trying such that I had learned the word but not absorbed the free unlock from Paarth. My dragon souls went from 9 to 8.

2) After absorbing the soul from Paarth, I looked at my shout menu again and had learned the 3rd word of Fire Breath !

3) I saved.

4) I reloaded the save prior to chatting with Paarth. Sure enough, I had my 9 dragon souls again. Started the dialogue, took it slow, learned the 2nd Fire Breath for free, still at 9 dragon souls, no 3rd word learned.

--> seems like a minor bug, so I am reporting it

Great game! I love playing it slow, and its painfully hard to wait for each level up and perk.

Great game! I love playing it slow, and its painfully hard to wait for each level up and perk. Smithing at 100, dragon armor in hand, and I still need 2 more perks for daedric weapons...

Funny.... I did the same exact thing about an hour ago.... only i already had words one and two (I basically just wasted the free dragon soul) But this is confirmed that you can indeed spend a soul before the free soul is given for the shout....

and to the above guy.... I had words one and two already and he gave me the third.... no problems whatsoever.

I can confirm that somehow you can get both 2nd and 3rd word from him. On my first char I went in with only the first word learned, after learning the word he puts on the wall I did not spend a soul to unlock it but I did open the menu to look at it second word was there. After finishing the conversation I checked and i had unlocked the third. I had just assumed I got the third from going through the dialogue and asking to meditate on words of power.

This did not occur with my second char, only learned the second word, even after "meditating" I still only had words one and two.
