Tidus Mede II and Amaund Motierre

Post » Mon Jan 14, 2013 4:08 am

So on my first character I joined the Dark Brotherhood. In Oblivion it felt decent, as I enjoy playing characters who are relatively upstanding, and the targets could all be justified.

But in Skyrim I just couldn't follow through with the quests because they all involved killing perfectly innocent people. Now that I'm on PC I can cheat my way through the contracts, and only do the main quest. But I wonder if it's even possible to do that much as a decent person.

So I come to you, Spoilers forum, is Tidus Mede II decent enough for the empire, or is he really a detestable guy? I'm all for reforming the Empire, but I wonder if Motierre would be all the much better as to justify Mede's assassination.

Spoilers are perfectly welcome.

He's a decent guy, very polite when you try to kill him. WGC was his doing, but he doesn't seem horrible.

Not sure how Oblivion's contracts were justifiable.. what about the whole family you had to slaughter?

Forgot about that one... almost all of them did something detestable though! xP

I had heard he managed to beat back the Thalmor from the Imperial City, but I couldn't get a source on that. I suppose what it mostly comes down to is if there's any backstory on Motierre himself, and whether he'd be able to do anything about the Thalmor. But anyone who's willing to work with the Dark Brotherhood is probably not very trustworthy as an emperor...

I'm fighting an uphill battle, aren't I?

Well, Mede has does somethings that have been regretable. I won't mention it because then it will turn in a Stormcloak v Imperial things.

Titus Mede II is a completely likable guy. Which is surprising, because there are so few of them in the game. When you go to kill him, he pulls a Uriel Septim VII on you and accepts his death, saying the Dark Brotherhood cannot be escaped. So he doesn't even fight you. He just sits there and lets you kill him. I think they made it that way because it made it so much harder to kill the guy; for me, anyway.
He DOES, however, ask you to kill whoever hired you to kill him. If you do, you still get payment from Motierre (just get it first), and when you kill him he'll have a bunch of rare gems on him.

However, you have to kill the Emperor in order to progress the quest. Or, I suppose, you could just use setstage with console commands, so you can get the payment for the job for Motierre, then kill him and get the gems. That way, you sort of trick Motierre and put him where he belongs. That's what I would have done, if I had played it on PC first.

Titus Mede II both planned, and took part in, the Battle of Red Ring, in which the Aldmeri Dominion was beaten from Imperial City, and the main Dominion invasion force in Cyrodiil was defeated. However, he signed the White-Gold Concordat because he knew the Empire could never win, as the Dominion was both larger and consisted of not only the High Elves, who are extremely adept at magic, but the Wood Elves/Bosmer as well. Most Stormcloaks would like to forget that if the Emperor hadn't done this, the Empire and Skyrim wouldn't exist. It'd all be Dominion territory now.
EDIT: That last bit isn't open for debate. Any of you can try, but I'm going to ignore you. I have my opinion and you have yours. I'm just going to let it stay that way.
