It is time for... master diff.

Post » Sat Feb 16, 2013 5:00 pm

Hello TES Community,

As the title says it, it is time for me to try master difficulty. I have never started out on master, only switching over to it here and there with an already leveled up character or two to mess around. Although I am sure it is going to follow this, I don't want to hear any crap posts and trolling, however it is a video game forum so I doubt that will not happen.

I am sure people have posted something about master difficulty before, but I just want to hear suggestions about it and tips and whether or not you enjoyed master difficulty.

As for any questions, I do have one major one... is it true you gain more experience with perks making you level quicker or is it evened out with adept difficulty?

Also, is there any perks you try to stay away from or also a must-have?

Hope to begin this journey to 81 later this evening.

Thanks guys!

Orcs and Bretons are probably best.

The first question, I believe it doesn't matter.

Second question, anything that increase damage. Warriors would probably be best. Some Magic Resistance perhaps?

Edit: This is your first post since 2010? Damn.

Thank you for the info.

And yes it is, LOL, I usually read everyone else's stuff and steer away from posting because "dumb" people like to troll and not answer questions LOL. I get weary about forums. You on the other, straight forward and answered.

As the previous stated, it doesn't matter as far as Gain rate. but I do want to ask, Why? what is appealing about reduced damage dealing and increased enemy health?

To me it really depends on;

1) How well you understand the game mechanics... lots of ways to stay alive on Master

2) How “ok” you are with quick re-loads vrs. playing though when things get bad...

I only play on Master because i find the game way to easy after about level 10, and I enjoy the struggle until then... though it’s easy because I skirt, use followers, smithing & enchanting, etc... I probably couldn’t survive Master w/o at least two of the crafting skill sets...

It does matter... leveling Light & Heavy armor is much faster on Master as damage received = increase in skill... i also tend to level Restoration without resorting to silly tactics (getting hurt on purpose) because I find myself using it from near-death much more often... on easier levels your health never gets low...

Let me start with a friendly advice: when you begin a thread with such a statement, you literally invite them in

Because you deal only half damage, fights take longer -and you also take double damage. Therefore, one can easily get the impression that leveling is faster on master difficulty. But nothing perk-related.
Also, is there any perks you try to stay away from or also a must-have?
None that I've seen during my master playthroughs, or heard about by others. As far as I know, everything is a go.

I, as others have stated, found the game to be very simple during the levels 10-20 and it seems you can one-two hit everything at 21. I have beaten the game several times, but literally one day someone asked me, "Why not just try master since you have beaten it a gazillion times?"

“Nothing perk related”... except what ever armor is taking double damage... damage dealt is still the same, as killing someone with 80hp at Adept or Master is still only dealing 80hp... but you take way more damage during fights at Master level... so Light/Heavy Armor and BLOCK levels faster at Master Difficulty
