Tips for making a Warrior

Post » Sun Dec 02, 2012 11:52 am

So I am planning on making my first pure (as in no magic, or stealthy business) Warrior character--an archetype I haven't run since I last played Daggerfall--for the first time in a while. Obviously Daggerfall and Skyrim are two very different Elder Scrolls games, so I was wondering if you guys had any good tips for an old gamer who is running a Warrior for the first time in four years.

Hi there!

First of all i would like to wish you goodluck! As a warrior class can be one of the most enjoyable if played right!

My first tip would be to decide between what weapons you would like to use and what armour. As in 1Handed or 2handed weaponds, then do you want to have light armour or heavy armour?

I know my first character was sword and shield heavy armour Russel-Crowe look-alike. And i had great fun.

My advice would be to use smithing to improve weapons. Always make sure you have some decent health, stamina and (if you intend to use restoration to heal yourself) magica potions too. It would also be wise to get a follower as soon as posible as they can help you carry some heavy loot and so on.

Most of this is pretty obvious to take from it what you will. But best of luck anyway and i hope at least some of what i said helps!

Thanks, I was just thinking about that very thing. As of now I am planning on running a one handed weapons type, who may specialize in light armor but keep a set of heavy on him for good measure. I was thinking about going with two handed, but I simply can't stand the way most of them look, but if someone could plead a compelling case as to why--gameplay wise--they are superior then I could be swayed.

Well the Daedric greatsword looks pretty nice (to my eyes) but ofc that isn't going to pop up early in the game. But i like your idea of running a one handed light armour guy, my advice would be to let ur companion carry the heavy armour for you so you can do the looting. Also a shield would be a good idea. And perhaps an enchanted shield later on which can provide extra protection.

Many people when levelling up select ONLY health, but health is overrated, you should level up stamina too, for 350 health you should have at least 250 stamina, this way you can shield bash which can effectivley prevent some deadly blows.

Finally i would recommend deciding where you want to call home so you can store the many different objects which you will likley come acros! :)
