Tired of this

I keep reading about how EVERY P2P game goes F2P or fails. Yet no one seems to know about Rift.

The game has been P2P for about 2 years now. It just released an xpac that adds in quite a bit of content.

So stop saying KOTOR failed because it was B2P and that the payment model doens't work. It does.

But NO ONE is going to pay monthly for a [censored] game.

We pay for quality.

I think a lot of people around here agree. Rift is quite good anyways, is still quite alive and it's a well known fact around here. I for one know that a payment model helps keep the highest amount of end game content coming which in turn keeps the player base around. ... Which in turn keeps the the money coming... which in turn keeps the end game cont ... eh you get the point.

Blame GW2 and those who follow it like god. Apparently if an "AAA outstanding and amazing game" like GW2 goes B2P the rest of the world for the rest of time should follow or else they're just some evil corporate developers who are out to rob us blind -.-

See post below mine for evidence *facepalm* -.-

It's funny how some people would rather pay than keep those 12 euros in their pockets just because they believe inside their thick skulls that a (monthly) paid game is better than b2p.

Rift and ESO has different communities. Rift is a very good game (yet it is not a huge project) and appeals to mmorpg community who doesn't mind paying a monthly fee but our community is different. ESO appeals to both mmorpg players and single players. And to archive a complete success we need them both.

I want ESO to be huge, to be like an hammer to mmorpg sector and destroy those weakling games in it's path, not only doing 'good' ..

I agree 100%.

RIFT is a prime example of why the P2P system is far from dead, in fact the number one(WOW) western MMO is P2P and most of the AAA F2P MMO still have a sub based payment option.
