Sad to see another icon gone Not only writing books but game devs spawning great games from his books such as Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell (Not sure which was first, the book or game)

Today is the saddest day in my life. Especially for video games :/. R.I.P Tom Clancy.

The books he wrote are amazing to read and the video games inspired by his books are also amazing to play.

Just saw it this morning in the Orlando Sentinel. I have all his books on my shelf (though I haven't read even half of them yet).

Terrible news, I loved The Hunt For Red October and Clear and Present Danger, RIP.

I've read all of his books. I especially enjoyed his non-fiction stuff. I'm bummed.

I remember him being interviewed shortly after the WTC disaster. He made a point that you can't get good intelligence without people on the street. Signal intel and imagery intel were fine, but you really need agents to get the whole story. At the time, the CIA was very much dialed back with humint, a subject that came up in a few of his novels.

I found most of his books to be rather boring, unfortunately. Like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunt_for_Red_October, for example. Excellent movie, but very boring book.

That said, I hardly read all of his books so it's not like I have that much insight and I did enjoy reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Six_(novel) (which is also the only Tom Clancy book I actually bought instead of just using the library).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Clancy%27s_Op-Center_(novel) was fairly nice too, but he didn't write it. Sure wish I could buy the mini-series on DVD and not only the cut down movie version.

Sad news. He will be missed. /salute

Oh, wow. I've read most of his books, played most of his games (the Red Storm ones, not the crummy Ubi ones) and even read works he supported like Splinter Cell. Who will give us our reality grounded war and spy novels now?

I first heard about Mr. Clancy when I got the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six PC game back in 1998. Since then I've read most of his books and played pretty much all the games that bear his name.
