Tomato mystery?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:09 am

OK, now this is just weird. Just for some color and decorating purposes, I filled the container on top of the small wardrobe in that useless room behind the main hall with tomatoes. Normal tomatoes. I jumped on top of it and they dropped right in with no problem until the last one that rolled out and dropped to the floor. No problem, I went to the cellar and back, then picked up that last one and dropped it in. Somehow, between picking it up (normal size) and dropping it in there, it expanded to about softball size! Looked very strange, but I left it in there and just re-arranged the rest so it looked ok. Champeen tomato had it been in my garden! lol

Went out for some bandit killing, and when I got back, about half of the rest had expanded to that large size too! Very strange, has anyone else seen this? I now have a container full of huge tomatoes!

I put 5 normal sized ones in the cast iron pot on the cupboard in the same room, and I will see if they grow bigger as well......

Here is a pic with a normal size to show the difference.

hope the pic works this time....

Did you get your tomatoes from Whiterun by any chance? You can get large tomatoes at the market and up at Dragonsreach in the kitchen.

And finding an image server where we can just view the picture might be an idea.

I just pulled them from my kitchen, they were gathered from various places, so I don't know for sure. They were normal size when I first put them in the container, because I dropped them all first. Is the photobucket image still not working? Drat, never posted pics here before. I don't mind big tomatoes, it was just strange, I didn't expect them to do that. lol

The photobucket image works fine, thanks for the pic.

Pretty sure I have collected the tomatoes from the houses and they were all normal size, you get anything from a container it will be normal size, so you must have collected some from else where. Whiterun is the only place I noticed had the extremely large tomatoes, but they could be elsewhere as well. The tomatoes will keep their size even when stored with other sizes, unlike the carrots which tend to revert back to the smaller size if kept with small carrots.

they started out normal, but got big. I know there are different sizes to some things, I just didn't expect them to instantly change. Hmmm....
I know I bought some from the Whiterun vendor, some gathered from barrels in various places, some looted, so who knows. I'm getting used to them now. The others I put in the iron pot have stayed small. lol

Generally if you drop them and leave then come back they will show their real size. If you have a lot of them, drop them all (together not individually) and they will drop in groups according to size, but you still usually have to leave to see what you collected.

Thanks aussie, I'll remember that, Heljarchen Hall is still a work in progress this time around, though main furnishings are done.

Ok, now I have 3 different sizes of tomatoes. I know for sure the medium came from Whiterun, I got some from there just to compare. These little details are funny and kinda cool actually. lol

Apples, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, cabbages, leeks, sweet rolls, bread, boiled cream treats, cheeses and even some of the meats come in different sizes. Lots of things come in different sizes in Skyrim.
