Too easy?

I'm levelling up way too quickly - I killed about 6/7 bandits in a dungeon and levelled up 2 levels! Been playing 2 hours and I'm level 6 - and that's after about 3 dungeons and the slaying of a few wolves.

I'm playing the game on 'adept' difficulty and realise that I can increase the difficulty slider but surely it's not going to make it as hard as Oblivion/Morrowind was? It took me hours and hours to progress to level 1 in Morrowind.

Levels won't mean a whole lot depending on what you run into. Two seconds of Dragon breath exposure = toast, Giants flick you to kill you, and you'll probably be lucky if you can hurt a troll before it regenerates.

I got cocky too about the difficulty until I started facing more than just bandits and wolves.

You level up easily the first few hours in order to get some perks built up. Don't worry, the leveling will slow down.

I would be happily surprised if this game was as challenging as Morrowind... It would be welcome and celebrated amongst the people I play with.
But I'm only 20 minutes into this game, so it's hard to say it's too easy (although I did level up my lockpick skill by unlocking only 3 cages in the tutorial).

I don't know what you're doing but I think its tough as hell! As a pure melee class (excluding shouts) if I get more than one spellcaster going after me, I'm screwed. Also, some mobs seem to be extremely strong compared to others, as in I'm dying in 3 or 4 shots of a longsword. (Also on adept)

Now as far as leveling up goes, you're leveling fast because its not just based on you leveling you're "core skills", say like in Oblivion. Any skill contributes to leveling up, i.e. lockpicking as a burly warrior as opposed to a thief.

One of the major complaints about those games was all the necessary grinding you had to do in order to progress and not be 1 or 2 shot by mean, scary mobs. So leveling IS a bit easier now in that you should level as much as you need by actually doing quests and exploring rather than going on a nice crab walk of shame to get that extra bit of xp.

Also, yeah, you should probably increase the difficulty so that the game is challenging. It's a little fun 'zerking into a cave and blasting the first 3 guys you see in a couple of seconds, but it gets old fast. The only way I'd enjoy mobs dying that fast is if there were lots and lots of them to stay in constant battle with.

Increasing the difficulty to a level you're more comfortable with should slow things down to a better experience for you.

I should probably wait till I'm 20 hours in then before I start complaining! Just feels a bit weird at the moment. Battle is a bit 'clunky' too. Lacks fluidity.

Yeah you level up pretty fast atleast in the beginning, in one cave I got 3 levels, but it doesnt really make the game easier. Today I had a quest where I had to kill the leader of some cave and there was a Centurion Sphere which kept killing me in 1 or 2 hits, so I had to go away and save it for later when im stronger :D

If you're up for getting a couple of tips, I'd be happy to help. Use some of the first person shooter mentality when it comes to fighting these ranged classes--even the heavy melee ones. Try to use the environment to break their line of sight on you, and duck and weave those shots! When the big melee guy runs at you, don't just stay in his face. Use the downtime between your attacks to back out of his swing range. There's a small window between your attacks where you are only hurting yourself by not backing out for a split second. Try to dance around the NPCs' slow, predictable swings, and then punish them afterwards while they get ready to swing again.

I hope that helps you.

I've already died about 3 times in 9 hours. While in total in Oblivion I died maybe 4 times. You're just facing the easy enemies.

I did have to get used to the way blocking is in Skyrim, as the animations and sounds are different than Oblivion's. But for the most part combat seems vastly improved compared to Oblivion's. And last, the game is not too easy, my best moment thus far was walking around in the woods, then all of a sudden this bandit/hunter guy comes up and starts beating me, I was dead in 3 hits.
