Took a walk in Skyrim tonight.....

Post » Tue Aug 27, 2013 4:42 am

Tonight instead of doing heroic stuff like hunting the Falmor, I decided to take a walk. I slept in my house in Markarth, got up early in the morning before sunrise, and went out to see the sights. It was a clear sunny day, and I walked all the way to Winterhold listening to the soundtrack and checking out the sights.

No fighting, just sightseeing. And I had an absolute blast. The fugitive ran up to me and gave me something, threatened to kill me if I snitched(the hunter never showed up), I ran into Ma'iq and talked to him until he told me to buzz off :D , gave a farmer 5 gold pieces, and bought a magic staff from a wanna be magic user.

There is just so much to do in this game it's mind boggling. You can craft, go adventuring, build a house, get married, adopt kids, have a companion, harvest crops, chop wood, mine ore, sit in a tavern and listen to a bard while having a drink, listen to people talk, and do like I did tonight, go on a walk in the country side while checking out the scenery.

And this isn't even counting all the mods I have installed.

I swear, in my 35 years of video and computer games, I cannot recall ever enjoying a game this much. :tes:

Yup, the vastness of TES games can be quite captivating. Glad to see yet another merry soul had an enjoyable time in Skyrim!

I never thought any game could replace Morrowind as my favorite Elder Scrolls game, but Skyrim has done it.

It's always nice to take a break from adventuring and rest your haunches.

Hehe yah i do that occassionally in some of the games i play...i'll just find a nice spot or i'll fly around and sightsee. I havent had a chance to do it yet in Skyrim cause i just started playing and i'm too busy killing dragons. The most i have done is walk a lap or two around my stead after building it but in other games i'll find stuff to do:

WoW-fly up and down the coast of Westfall or fly around Nagrand

Star Trek Online-I'll go to Earth and just orbit the planet in my ship. I'll find all the countries i've been in IRL and make out the shapes and landmasses as i fly over

The Secret World-level multiple characters in Kingsmouth, which reminds me a little bit of the town Amity from Jaws.

Ah yes, the province of Skyrim is quite captivating :)

Haven't played WoW in a long time, but I certainly remember the beauty of Nagrand. Definitely the most beautiful place in WoW. I could just fly around all day in that area, enjoying all the magnificent sights.

I love taking the camping gear (a mod) and just getting lost in the Skyrim wilderness. Setting up a tent overlooking a vista and cooking dinner, with just sitting there looking out over the view, no worries just enjoying being there.

Skyrim is now my favorite game with it's intriguing political dilemnas, it's immersiveness with cooking, crafting, house building and owning, kids, spouses and companions, it's really interesting characters and sooo much to see and do. Really, really awesome game.

Agree - just taking a walk in Skyrim is a complete pleasure when the sky is clear. Only stormy snowfall makes me want to seek shelter (although during a recent heat wave in the real world walking through a snowstorm in Skyrim had a welcome cooling effect).

I loved Two Worlds I for the same reason - the scenery was just fantastic and I liked to walk through the world even after completing the game and eliminating all foes.

I understand your feelings perfectly. To start again with a new character, using alternate start+overhaul mods+climates of tamriel is just astonishing. To walk, to sleep, to look at the stars, to see the sunrise, the sunset...with that amazing soundtrack...I feel a lot of nostalgy too and look to the border of Cyrodill, Hammerfell, Morrowind...and I think a lot about where the next TES will be about.

Mods make this gaming a really roleplaying jewel too.

For me, it is the best game I've ever played, and I play quite enough to other games...Oblivion was a letdown for me, Morrowind was the best until Skyrim. 6 months before 11-11-11 more or less, Skyrim started to be the best TES game for me and the best game in history.

I wish I had a PC powerful enough to run all the climate mods, etc...but I've to be content with just HD textures and ENB (in truth, it runs at nice FPS, but my RAM isn't up to the task, and I get several slowdowns because of that).

I'll upgrade my RAM from 4 gbs to 8 this afternoon, see if it helps...still, can't complaint of the beauty of all the landscapes with that setup (ENB helps inmersely).

Yep a real change this game, especially after wondering around in Fallout 3 & New Vegas for so long, snowy mountainous landscape is a blast with Medieval themes... such a refreshing change!

Its a beautiful thing isnt it? The other day my female nord came home , got a book from her library and read a bit before going to bed. The options are limitless.

Yes those random encounters and the scenery make this game just awesome in general. I'm frequently killing Skooma dealers on the road whenever I'm travelling around skyrim... they're everywhere. At least I can take the sleeping tree sap and sell it to Ysolda :P

I'll blow your mind again. Turn off the soundtrack and take the same walk.

Can't wait to read your post on how many animals you heard during the walk.
