Top 3 Annoying enemies?

Post » Mon Aug 06, 2012 9:51 am

Skyrim has a variety of enemies and I think we all can agree that some can just be downright annoying. I made a list of my top 3 annoying enemies and I would like to hear everyone else's opinion on the subject. Here's my list.

Hired Thugs- Mainly because they always attack me at low levels and I have to outsmart the A.I just to kill them. Not to mention they show up at the worst possible times.

Ice Wraith- No matter what level I am these guys are super annoying. I can kill them but they do alot of damage and they tend to blend in with the snow. Oh, and they set ice traps and as long as they 're alive you take damage from stepping on them.

Ancient Dragons- I don't know if it's because I play on master but ancient dragons take a long time to kill. Even with a high archery skill they don't go down easily. The worst is when they catch me out in the open with no cover. Become Ethereal is my best friend at those times.

What are your top 3 most annoying enemies?

Cyromancers hitting you with three Ice Spikes consecutively causing your character to simply run on the spot. It's absolutely infuriating. Besides those nothing really bothers me, which is pretty rare in a game for me, usually I get annoyed and hate every enemy.

Mudcrabs are annoying because they look like rocks until they pop out of the ground.

My most hated/annoying/feared enemy is easily the Chaurus. Absolutely hate these nasty slimy things. They're gross and should have not been created. They've scared me so many times that I've ruined plenty of pairs of pants.

Stupid Dawnguard introduced more evolved flying Chaurus in the game. :ahhh:

definitely Ice Wraiths, they are such a pain.

Forsworn Briarhearts are no joke either. They can tear through dremora lords like nothing.

swarms of falmer and chaurus are always difficult. especially when the chaurus reapers, they are so big!

Iiz Slen Nuz or Fus Ro Dah works like a charm on them. I love all my enemies, I will admit ice wraiths are a minor annoyance once in a while but nothing I can't handle. I like "annoying" enemies because they normally give me a different challenge. With Ice Wraiths I need to be mindful of where I step and blocking their charges and follow up with a flurry of attacks while they swivel around for the next charge.

Edit: I absolutely loved the.. well I can't say because it's a spoiler. But it included frozen falmers and a collapsing roof. I really really adored that fight and set at the right difficulty it is a blast. It reminded me of the best part of WoW and other MMOs because to me it was genuinely difficult and after I overcame it with my limited number of potions, I felt pride. Like yeah, I died a couple of times but in the end I came out victorious. I think difficulty fetishists are going to have a fun time with that one.

1. Necromancers: Easy enough to kill, most of the time. But since I generally dislike the idea of slaughtering 15-20 people just to recover a book for that orc who runs the college library, I'd much rather slip past them or outrun them. But they use those darn Ice spells on me, so I can't outrun them anymore. And then I have to kill not only the caster, but half a dozen others who followed him. And I feel bad about it.

2. Dragons: They show up just when I don't want them to. It's like: "No, I don't need another freaking dragon soul, just let me go on with my business." But they fly after me and set me on fire, and I have to turn and waste 5 minutes killing them.

3. (Formerly) Saber cats: I love cats, and I feel bad about killing any animal I can't eat. However, the Kyne's Peace shout is very good for dealing with this sad issue. You shout, and Nasty Kitty turns into Nice Kitty.

Honestly, I switch the difficulty settings all the way down to novice when a dragon shows up. That's how boring they are to me.

Ice mages - Those bastards are a pain with loads of other enemies around me. Flinging all kinds of ice spells in my face and making my warrior slow as hell.

Ice wraiths - They aren't too hard to kill, but they're pretty hard to hit.

Spriggans - These girls are a huuuuge pain in the ass on lower levels, especially since they have loads of animals with them, making it that much harder to take them out.

1. Slaughterfish: So now the game says I'm in combat preventing me from doing anything else... waiting, mining, sleeping, etc because there is a fish in a nearby pond who is completely incapable of hurting me  . Now when I decide to kill him I have to stand in the water till he comes up to me and kill him without taking a step forward because then I'm swimming and can't fight..... I have found that flame cloak just before you get in the water is a great way to fry these svckers.

2. Anything that casts disarm shout. What I really want to do is wonder around looking for my enchanted sword in a dark dungeon. Thanks!!!

3. :bunny: I have to kill them... because the game records how many I kill separate from everything else. But they are so small and bouncy that they can be hard to hit!

I can't believe I forgot about ice mages. They are the worst! They die pretty easy but getting to them is the real challenge. They always slow me down with their damn ice spells and to make it even worse they backpedal while casting. I don't know why but most ice mage bosses one shot me. Even my nord character. I wish the players destruction was as strong as the mages you encounter. They need to make destruction scale so we don't have to depend on impact and enchantments.

Yeah, Slaughter fish are pretty pointless imo. If you want me to fight an enemy in the water at least make it like a giant sea creature or something fun and challenging. It's very annoying when I can't fast travel because one is around.

Disarm shout is ridiculously annoying as well. I have to reload my saves all the time because I can never find my weapon. It's fun to use on enemies but its a pain when used on you.

LOL, I recently found out the game records the bunnies you kill and I try to kill as many as I can now. I always use a bow to make it more of a challenge though.

Dragons, wolves and draugr. Because there's so damned many of all of them. Never thought I'd say fighting dragons was tedious and kept me from bigger and better things, but, well...

1: Dragons: They are not even fun too fight.
-They just circle around you.
-Then they land and each type does the same shout attack.
-Then they take off and repeat.
It's sad that they are on the same level as the Cliff Racers in Morrowind.

2: Any animal smaller than a wolf. Instead of the Mudcrabs and Skeevers defending their territory and backing down once you leave. They chase you all around Skyrim on a mission too kill you.

3: Mages: I'm just derping around Skyrim and out of nowhere a random fireball hits me in the face. Depending on my level and character they are easy too kill, but they are still annoying. Also, why do they attack you for no reason at all? It would be different if they were some member of an outlaw group that's on the run/in hiding.

Bears - very loud and annoying

Dragons - they'll sometimes circle you forever unless you run to wear they want to fight you which is usually around other NPC's

Mages - they seem to spam more projectiles at you while your surrounding by melee enemies and tend to back up more when it's just you and them

I completely forgot about disarming enemies and slaughterfish.
Looking for your weapon in the middle of combat is ridiculously stressful.

Slaughterfish are...well..annoying as f.

*edit*
This is completely off topic, but how do I edit my signature? I can't seem to find it in the settings, I must be so blind. :s

It's sad that they are on the same level as the Cliff Racers in Morrowind.

The games bread and butter was the dragons. That being said, I don't understand why they didn't take time to make dragons better and unique. When I first start finding named dragons I thought they would be challenging and use crazy shouts against me. But no, they are scripted to act like a normal dragon and the only thing that makes them unique is their name. Even the endgame boss acts like a normal encounter with the exception of the meteor shout he does.

It also bothers me that the shouts the dragon born has are effective against casual enemies but they're pointless against dragons. Dragonrend and Clear Skies are the only shouts that can help in a dragon fight. Sure there are others like Frost breath or mark for death but they have little effect and the time it takes to reload isn't even worth it.
