Top Modders on board and the game is GREAT!

I'm very heartened to see some of the top modders are ready to take on some of the issues which arise when you create a game of this scope. I've noticed QuarnAndKivan (unofficial Oblivion patch, 1,000,000+ downloads on TesNexus) is ready to risk life, limb and happiness so we all can have a better experience. Midas magic (Xilver, 900,000+ downloads on Tesnexus), OBSE... these are and were the mods that made Oblivion so fun to play that we all still play it after 5 years.

I've personally logged hundreds of hours with Oblivion and I expect Skyrim will be about the same. After nearly 50 hours of play time (only 3 CTD), I find the game excellent in most respects and am grateful to Bethesda for making it such an open universe. I miss a few things from Oblivion, but modders will make the game greater than when it was released. I've noticed that Bethesda has taken many ideas from the Oblivion modders and incorporated them into the game. WTG Bethesda!

I too, am looking forward to the release of the CK, but they will get it to us ASAP... I recall when Oblivion was released, it was some time before we had all the head morphs, but we did get them. What other company out there does this?

Think about this:
United Artists acquired Bioware and it's franchise in Dragon Age and Mass effect. The originals of those games were fantastic. United Artists completely gutted them, raised the price and has done everything possible to monitize them. The survival of a company like Bethesda means they must sell enough products to stay in business. PC's were the only game in town when Morrowind was released... so it was built for the PC!... Make sense? Today, a top gaming computer still costs thousands of dollars but a console is a few hundred which opens a huge market for the developers. I'm grateful they still make a concession to those of us who still use the PC by porting it over, giving us the CK and releasing all the ID codes, etc...

My compliments to Bethesda! I'll look forward to the next release in a couple years...

I've seen this being said before; can you clarify? I don't have the game yet, but I did play Oblivion.

And glad that you're so excited. I'm happy to see all this organisation as well. Now let's hope Skyrim won't take the road of Left 4 Dead with its modding tools : P

I'll bow and kneel for Bethesda after they released a non-buggy CK with at least the functionality of the Oblivion CS. Until then I'm not going to thank them.

I don't think its entirely accurate to say that Bethesda copied OOO or any other mod. It's not like darker dungeons, better level scales, or windows that light up at night are completely unique ideas that only a modder came up with. Rather, Bethesda looks at what users overhaul and improve (combat, level scaling, level detail) and try and focus on those areas during their development cycle.
