Thought this was a fun read and would make a good topic. Enjoy.

+1 for Stormcloaks vs Imperials probably the greatest rivalry of all time.

I agree. It was great.

I would have appreciated it if Stocke Vs. Heiss from Radiant Historia made it up there. Or the Player Character Vs. Jon Irenicus in Baldur's Gate 2.

Mario vs Sonic, Scorpion vs Sub-Zero, Spy vs Spy, Solid vs Liquid

It should of been a top 5 list or something because it looks like IGN pulled reasons (excuses) out of their rears to make a top 25 list. Mario vs Luigi? Non-existent rivalry. Assassins vs Templars or Terrorists vs Counter-Terrorists? That's just good guy vs bad guy. So I guess by that logic every game that has a protagonist and antagonist should be considered a rivalry.

Link and Ganon are a big one, and probably one of the earliest.

Red and Blue are in my ultimate spot. Can't say I agree with most of these, though the last one makes me laugh.

My god, what awful writing. They didn't even do their research!

http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2013/11/0f8ee0ced7a60378aaf566bfd0cbc9cf.jpg Really? More like sensationalist writing versus intelligence. Look at that picture, that's not Megaman vs Zero. That's http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Mega_Man_Zero_%28series%29vs http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Mega_Man_X5. Furthermore, Megaman never fought Zero. X did.

Jordan vs Bird? Such a video game rivalry! I'm shocked Coke vs Pepsi didn't make the list. Oh well, maybe next year?

Sega vs Nintendo. Because placing an entry twice in one article is journalism.

Bird vs Piggies. More like "IP theft vs originality"

Chief was never really set up to be the Arbiter's rival.

At least they got La Li Lu Le Lo right. But oh well, it's IGN, can't expect them to try to hard. +1 site traffic.

Yeah. Now I have an itching for some Megaman X. Wish I still had a working SNES.

I only played X2 and X4. Only because it looked fun to play.

IGN needs to stop titling their articles "Top X."

At least they got Liquid and Solid in there. Those are my boys!
