Oh my....

I've been quite understanding with Bethesda and the glitches in its games, simply for the fact that I've enjoyed every game I've bought by them. I do hate when people complain about the game, and my really devoted fan defense mode kicks in on occasion, in my head at least, but most complaints I see are about simple things, things I've learned to deal with. But when a game corrupts my entire PS3 system memory, yeah I think I have good reason to be worried. Umm...so my question is, what's up with that? What could have possibly been so serious that it froze and corrupted my PS3 system? Is this a common occurrence or am I part of the 1% of unlucky gamers? :sadvaultboy:

Luckily it was able to recover the data, but I'm worried that it can happen again, and I wonder if this has happened to anyone else on here and if anyone is aware of this problem.

are you referring to the standard playstation message and scan when you restart the system after a crash? or did something more serious happen with you?

a little clarification on what happened would help. if it was just the standard warning message, then yes, we've all been there.

Um, well it said that my memory could have been corrupted after Skyrim crashed and that it had to recover the data, if it was corrupted it would take over 2 or 3 hours to recover. The message said something close to that.

I've had the same thing happened to me ... and I've been reading the forums about other ps3 owners and their hardware breaking ... so to speak ... so, I'm a little worried as well ... I love the game regardless ... but I love my ps3 working as well haha

That's the message that was introduced with the 4.00 firmware update. It kicks in almost every time you had to hard reset your Ps3 (beeping 3 times). Happened to a lot of us lately, me included. I don't think the hard resets are overly healthy for the Ps3 and some people reported that their HDDs broke, but whether or not Skyrim breaks the console with its freezes is yet to be confirmed by someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

However, it may calm you to hear that I had hundreds of hard resets on my last Ps3 (which got a YLOD, but due to its age) and surely about 50 with my current. Not because of Skyrim but because of the crappy web browser locking up on me every so often. No problems whatsoever with my HDD thus far.

It does make me less worried ... I love my ps3 ... and I love this freaking game ... one of my favorite games despite bugs/glitches/lag haha :D

That's good. Thanks for clarifying, though it is more of an intimidating message now. Quite terrifying actually. lol
