E M P E R O R

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps one of the most regarded questions when it comes to ESO, how does one become emperor? Why much of the concerning information is yet to be revealed, an interview with Zinimax Online employee has revealed the basics of how to become emperor and maintain that title. The actual interview can be found here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-24-see-how-he-elder-scrolls-online-has-changed-for-the-better .The emperor system is based off of an alliance points system. Alliance points are rewarded when you capture and hold a keep within cyrodiil, when you kill opponents of another alliance, when you heal members of your own alliance and when you cut off travel routes for the enemy alliances. to gain emperorship, First off, your alliance of your choosing must control all of the 'Keeps' in capitol city of cyrodiil. With each keep under control of your alliance, there are alliance-wide bonuses for capturing and holding the keep. these are yet to be revealed. When all the keeps are captured an maintained, the player who contributed most to the alliance war will be titled emperor. When you are crowned emperor, you receive alliance wide bonuses, an entire new skill line dedicated to the roll of being emperor, you quote "become the most powerful force on the battlefield - a nearly unstoppable juggernaut". If you loose the crown, you still get to keep the emperor skill line, but your powers are greatly reduced back down to your average skills. Players in PVP's and PVE'S definitely wan their alliance to control the capitol as it provides numerous advantages. more information will be added as it is released.

Would this be while in PVP events, or at least while only in Cyrodiil? I can imagine people macroing one character hurting themself or getting hurt and another healing in order to accumulate points.

Nice info.

While I did post this topic I withheld my own opinions for the comment section for educational reasons and to ensure the accuracy of the information above.

I am really glad they decided to make the emperor system this way as opposed to the rumored 'highest level member of the alliance' <--- if that was the case, only the no life players could enjoy the spoils of being emperor making us with a little free time doomed of ever being emperor. This is a great system in my opinion because it really rewards the highest working player of that specific time. while im sure the crown will be cycled constantly between alliances, I myself cannot think of a better method of crowning an emperor. great job Bethesda. great job zinimax.

I believe its only during PvP in cyrodiil, in the interview they seemed like they were doing everything to ensure an honest and fair system.

Not to downplay your find or anything, but some of the more up to date people knew most of this info already (atleast the leaderboard thing, I can't remember if we knew about the keeps or not). I'd never heard the highest level thing, but there's really no way to do that since, well, everyone's going to be the highest level eventually, some much faster than others.

Sounds dreadful. Basically if you aren't on 18+ hours a day (and in Cyrodil) you need not apply. Well, unless all the fulltime ESO PvP players are inexplicably all really terrible. And then they get massive bonuses to help keep the title.

It is even terrible if the cap the 'alliance points' you can earn. That puts a massive horde of people with their hat in the ring, and what, randomized selection? Cut it off at a random time in the final day/week and whoever is furtherest toward the cap that cycle wins? There really isn't a good option here.

I don't know it seems somewhat ok to me I'm sure perfectly stable individuals could obtain it with some effort and skill and a little work from their alliance. :(

I do worry about piloting and botting though, it could be a huge problem for leaderboard farming. I hope they have something in place for it.

How to Emperor

  • No sleeping
  • Subway on speed dial
  • cut off all RL relationships
  • paint and file nails during dead times
  • Cry

Serious though the only thing i see getting in the way and being an issue is lack of communication between people. Theres going to be a lot of people in your own faction wanting it but if everyones is going to play the greedy duck game and go out for themselves no one will get it.

Yep, and it should be like that. The casual gamer should NOT have a chance at being Emperor, or even the casual PvPer. You should have to work a LOT for it and truly be a good player with effective teamwork and communication skills.

Pretty much this. Its a prestige title, not to be handed to everyone in single file. It will take hard work from an individual player, and from the alliance as a whole to obtain and maintain, assuming there's no shenanigans with the stuff I mentioned before (pilots and bots).

How about a cap on points, and then people vote for who they want from those who reach the cap?
Then we can have a nice person for emperor :D. [THIS IS A JOKE]

If emperors make decisions, people can campaign for votes. [JOKE]

I dunno though. Honestly, I have no interest in being emperor. I would rather be a scoundrel bandit excused from taking part in this war. That said, if the emperor runs around calling people noobs and gays, I will not be impressed.

Eh I disagree. If a large guild is in one they could vote someone in their guild Emperor even if they have crap PvP skills. Emperorship should be based on PvP skill, ability, teamwork, and communication. This isn't a democracy.

Yeah, I'm sure a nice person will be crowned. Not the guy who bought the most votes or had the biggest guild(s) boost him up.

I wasn't being serious, friend. But if I was, I would point out that this large guild wouldn't put forth a crap PVPer. They would put forth their best or one of their best.
