Town Vs Tamriel worldspaces what are pro's and con's?

I decided to have a crack at a very large city, created a new worldspace, started building terrain and have a bare shell of a city plonked on the terrain. Before I go much further I need to find out the pro's and con's of a specific worldspace like Whiterunworld vs Exterior (tamriel) worldspace.

So is it worth the trouble to setup a custom town worldspace as part of my new worldspace and if I did how would I link it so that outside scenery can be visible from within the town worldspace?

As I see it if I didn't set it up there will be no separtion in terms of location names, but I am worried what kind of a hit this could bring to performance.

You need advice from a few of the World-Builders on here. But you have the right idea.

As well as a performance thing, there is also the Weather, Sound and Imagescapes that you can make different across "regions".

On the performance thing, you are probably correct, but if your world is "just" the city plus a bit of countryside so little will be going on - in comparison to Skyrim - that it probably won't matter whether you do or you don't make a "walled city".

And note, lots of people don't like walled cities and would want your City to be "open" ... there is a mod on the go (maybe it is finished, I've not kept up with its progress) that opens up the existing Skyrim walled cities.

(by the way, massive undertaking, so the very best of luck )

Thanks for the encouragement, I think I have my answer from a recent post, I'll just make use of a goodly number of occlusion planes.
