Training Bug

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 5:46 am

I posted this in the general section of the boards as well, but wanted to make sure it had been seen by someone for the bugs list on PS3, so here it is again:

I searched but couldn't find this one listed anywhere. I'm on a PS3 and have the most recent patches.

I am training up my skills. I decided to go train my destruction skills as much as I could. In order to do this I went to talk to Sybille Stentor at the Blue Palace.

I went into her room, woke her up, and trained from level 15 to level 20. No problem. I then leveled up my character and went on about the next set.

I then went to train from level 20 through 25. I clicked to train to 21. My skill advanced and it counted me as having trained once this level.

I clicked it again and my skill advanced to 22 and it changed to reflect that I had trained twice this level.

I clicked it again and my skill advanced to 23, and again the display changed to reflect that I had trained three times this level.

I then clicked it again, to go from level 23 to level 24, and my skill did NOT advance, but the counter showing I had trained four times this level did change so that it felt I had done four trainings this level, even though I only got three skill advances from training.

For curiosity's sake I used my last training for this level to see if I could get my Destruction up to 24 - and it worked as designed. For some reason though, it's not crediting me with training from level 23 to 24, while still using one of my training turns. It only does it once, and if I repeat the process it works fine.

This is kind of messed up. Had I not been carefully watching the screen and tracking my stats, I'd have gotten hosed.

I have not tried it with any other trainers in Destruction, nor have I tried it with any other skills. I don't know what happens in those circumstances. I just know it's happening to me right now with this trainer.

I checked. It's like this for each of the trainers. All of them.

I can't say I have noticed this happening... I do not buy skills a lot, but I do sometimes if I am close to lvl. I have purchased skills in blocks of 5 for scout type skills with no problems yet.

Bump. I'd like to know a Bethesda person has at least heard about the issue.

It just did it again.

This time from level 89 to 90 with the Restoration trainer in Whiterun.

86 to 87, no problem.
87 to 88, no problem.
88 to 89, no problem.
89 to 90, costs a training, takes my gold, but does not advance me a level.

I have a very difficult time believing I'm the only one that's encountered this. It'd be super awesome if Bethesda at least acknowledged they knew about it.

I've encountered the bug at least two more times. It'd be nice if someone from Bethesda even just acknowledged that they had heard about it.

It's one thing to create a game that is absolutely riddled with bugs. It's another to then ignore the polite attempts of customers who are simply trying to get them to acknowledge one of the issues that should have been discovered during testing prior to release.

I encountered this, and thought it was simply me and my bad eye sight.
Your post here has convinced me I'm not crazy, (although probably am crazy)
But I have only noticed it twice, both times chocking it up to me not paying enough attention.
Seens how I don't train in stills from trainers often, I figured it was just me and
went along with my game. Both times with me, it was my heavy armor
(as I'm converting from light to heavy)
