Transferring Xbox 360 Data - Help Please

Post » Sat Jul 07, 2012 11:00 am

I recently bought a new Xbox 360 Slim with 250gb. Previous to that I had an old Xbox from about 2006/2007 so I had the huge hard drives. When I got my Slim I also purchased Xbox Live and I didn't have Live on my old Xbox. I set up the new Xbox and made my new Xbox Live gamertag. I put all the files from my old hard drive onto a USB and put them all onto my new Xbox but they do not appear under my new Xbox Live profile. They are on the Xbox because I see them when I look at the "Storage" section but the saved games aren't under any profile on the system. How do I get those saved games onto my new Xbox Live account? Thanks!

You create a gamertag anyway, even if you don't have Live.
The files you transferred are, presumably, attached to what ever non-Live tag you created on the old xbox to play them.

I recently transfered all my files from White to Slim and never had a problem with the saves being allocated to the wrong tags or not being recognised. Check your old xbox for the account you created there, assuming you want to begin playing on Live with those saves means you may need to buy Live again for that gamertag.

Transfer your old gamertag to the new 360. Saves are locked to gamertags like everything else. You won't be able to play old saves with a new gamertag.

Welcome to the wonderful world of DRM.

Alright thanks guys that worked. I didn't put my actual profile onto the xbox. But now all of my saves are on my other profile and not my Live profile. Is it possible to switch the saves to the non-live profile?
